2021 KY OL Jager Burton (Kentucky Verbal)

A month ago we thought Burton was for sure going to UK and Latham was a Buckeye. Crazy how recruiting works.

I’ll say this. If we get Leigh and Burton in exchange for Latham, I say that’s a win for us. Even though Latham is probably the better prospect of the bunch, I’d take the quality depth in a heartbeat! Especially with having Paris Johnson from last year’s class.

Except that it was originally supposed to be Latham AND Burton.

Pretty good odds that we get none of the three (Latham, Leigh, Burton).

Burton isn’t the only top guard prospect Greg Studrawa and Ohio State are recruiting, but he is one of the few offensive linemen at the top of the board for the Buckeyes. They seemed to have momentum with him in the winter and spring, but that has since died down. Now with more time to make a pitch, the Buckeyes will have to play catch-up to earn his commitment.

His choice to delay his decision may work in Ohio State’s favor.

Sometimes these decisions are really hard based upon various factors. Sometimes the ability to stay home and be supported and surrounded by family and friends outweighs everything else. That is the emotional part of making a decision.
Then there is the mental or factual part of decision making. Factually, it is very improbable that Kentucky (a solid program) will win a divisional or conference Championship in the SEC.
Though around 70K seats at Kentucky I'm sure there is nothing like playing to a crowd of over 100K at Ohio Stadium.
Factually the Kentucky OL can be solid but the Ohio State OL should be elite.
At OSU he will compete for a divisional and conference Championship every year and usually win both. He will also have a chance to play in the CFB Playoff every year and win a NC.
He will get drafted regardless of where he plays.
But sometimes emotions win out. Time will tell.
Here's hoping we see him in scarlet and gray.
