I don't understand the griping about Buford taking that last shot, there wasn't enough time for anything else once the ball was inbounded, he just happened to be the one on that side of the court.

Look, anyone could have missed that shot.

The reason people are frustrated: 2/16. Thats what Willy shot tonight. 2. Of. 16. Wouldn't have picked the guy that was off all night to take that shot, if Diebs had that stat line I'd feel the same way.

Hey, these are college guys, played out of their mind most of the year, had a chance to win it, and missed.

Do I wish Diebs would have gotten that last three up? Yes, absolutely. But there was no way in hell Buford was passing that up, there was like 1.5 seconds when he got it.

Didn't we have like 2 TO left? Can't remember, blacked out then shut off the TV

Yep. Kentucky had no business being a 4 seed. Should have been a 3 at worst, 2 at best. They can handle UNC.
before the tournament, there were 3 teams i didn't want to face: kentucky, north carolina, and kansas. those three teams were horrible match-ups for the buckeyes. lucky us.

It's really not as simple as that. We did not get outplayed. We shot like shit and got dooked all night by the refs. If either of those things didn't happen, we win. Not at all the same as being outplayed.

Actually, we did get outplayed. Kentucky played better defense, blocked way more shots and changed others. They were more efficient on the offensive end.

Kentucky was the better team tonight. Such is the tournament. You only have to beat a team once to advance. They did that.

Well guys, that one stung. All this said, I tip my hat to the seniors who elevated this program and applaud coach Matta for another great season.

In the end, only one team wins a title. The NCAA tourney is as much about stringing together consistent games, luck, and luck. We just got cold on the wrong night.

Life goes on and we'll fight on.

Their 14,000 (give or take a few) blocks certainly didn't help our chances. Their wingman were just too lengthy in the end... In each of the three losses this year, it took SPECTACULAR play from the teams that defeated the Buckeyes. This time it was on the defensive end of the ball. Tough night, we'll be back next year.

Yes I am aware that both are cop outs but the idea that we got more fouls so it was called even in or in our favor is a pet peeve of mine.

And sloopy if you saw the replay they showed there was plenty of time there. we got the ball across with 5.1 and then were 3 guys trailing to his right he could of left it for to step into a wide open 3. Of course the closes of them was Sully but there was another play with a better shot. Might not of mattered though.

Eh...the refs used the first 9 minute sof the second half to even the foul differential, but the last 10 minutes of the game were played under even circumstances.

We lost in the last 10 minutes, and Kentucky didn't give an inch. WIt hthe exception of Diebler, all of our guys on the court batted a few eye-lashes at a team that not only wouldn't give an inch but wanted to take a few.

Harrelson and Liggins were douche-bags all night but that was the attitude they needed to win the game. And it worked.

The basketball Gods didn't look favorably on us tonight. Karma didn't favor the Bucks but Kentucky won't win the title...Sucks for Bucks fans but it is what it is...

NOTE: I am NOT blaming the refs for this loss.

But I will say that this sentence is why I have grown to inherently hate the game of basketball. Who the fuck says the foul numbers have to be even at the end of a game? The refs, that's who. It was beyond obvious that they came out (especially the one guy under the basket) looking for ways to quickly even the numbers up. Not looking at the same criteria for fouls that they just did in the first half, but looking for any way he could to get the numbers closer to even an quickly as he could...to what, avoid some blame at the end of the game? The whole fucking thing is beyond arbitrary, it's almost predetermined, and I say that not so much about this game in particular, but about more or less every game in general.

A bad shooting night felt inevitable. I don't know why Thad didn't try to get Thomas some shots. He's the type of player who can spark an offense. We are still without a doubt the best team in the country. All it takes is one bad game.
And have him jack up three bad shots in a row when points were at a premium in this game? Not a chance.

Plain and simple, we had an awful shooting night. Should of expected it after we shot the lights out against GM.

The funny thing is that Will has had halves like that, but he's almost always shot himself out of it during the game. Every one he put up tonight, I expected to go in.

I'm sorry, but fuck that.

The ENTIRE first have was a fucking officiating shit storm. Calling the second half evenly does NOT make up for that. I said at half time that, with a decent crew calling the game, we'd be up 4-8 points, and I think many agreed. Well look what we have here. A 2 point win. Or in other words, a 2-6 point win for US if this game is called right.

Oh and remember this 2 point swing?:

This one stings... I know we had the team to bring it home this year, but picked a bad night to have a terrible night. Poor Buford, my heart goes out to him and you know this game will hurt/hant him for a while.

Thanks Sr's for a fun exciting season.

blah blah blah

Look, I get that it would've been nice had someone with a hotter stroke taken the shot there (ala Diebs), but there's nothing anyone could've done to make that happen once the inbounds happened. If anything, I'm more frustrated that Craft was on Knight at the end of the game. He's a solid defender, but he doesn't have the height to disrupt a shot that Diebs or Lighty do and Knight basically broke his ankles and shot over him.
