We should be talking strictly Cleveland Browns right now. Your massive tangent had me forgetting what thread I even clicked on.

BINGO!!!

Let's get back to the love affair with Eric Berry!!! And the collective prayers that he be there at #7.

Also... seems like Colt McCoy is picking up steam as the guy Holmgren is liking in this draft.

Lets pick the guy that picks up steam AFTER the season. I dont like the idea one bit, go by what they do on the field. But, I do like the idea of taking McCoy in the third, that would be pretty awesome and we could take Berry, if there and a decent WR in the second.

What are the Browns going to do if Berry isnt there? That seams to be the end all answer, draft Berry, but if he isnt there?

if he REALLY likes him then I suppose that would be okay, but I stand by what I said awhile ago, defense defense defense in this draft, and then worry about a QB for the future next year

and there is only one real QB option next year. Everyone knows there wont be any defensive players to draft next year. Pass on a QB while we have a chance so we can get defensive guys and then pray we get one next year or we will be left with the same defensive guys.

Spend all the picks on defense and neglect the offensive unit that set a record for not scoring TDs..........makes sense.

McCoy will not be there in the third, right now I'm not positive he will be there in the second when the Browns pick. I like Berry at 7, if he isn't there find some way to trade back. I really like McCoy in the 2nd. Hateinhiney there is no way the Browns are taking another Wideout in the second this year.

They arent taking one in the first and they arent taking one in the second, when are they taking one? When Holmgren first showed up he said it was a miracle the Browns won four games with the passing game they have. Yeah, I heard him say draft defense, trade for offense, but you have to look at what this team is. And who actually goes out and tells someone what they are planning to do in the draft?

Yes, they won't take one in the first or second. There are too many holes on this team to draft a receiver that early. Plus, if you haven't noticed Holmgren is a lot more upfront than almost any other front office guy in the NFL right now. Obviously he isn't going to tell the truth about everything or reveal his hand for the draft but he is much more upfront than anyone else is. If they are going to take one it will be later on. There are a couple later round guys that I like too. Erick Decker, Jordan Shipely, Taylor Price are all guys that could be there in the 3rd or 4th round. Taking a receiver any earlier than that I think would be foolish with how many other holes this team has. Strengthening the right side of the offensive line, the defensive front seven, mainly the DE's and finding one more rush linebacker, plus finding atleast one decent corner and safety. Not to mention the Browns need to find a quarterback to develop.

Just. Fucking. Stop.

You want Clausen. Nobody else does. We get it. :smash:

McCoy picking up steam AFTER the season? Hasn't he been considered a top NFL QB prospect since last year? And if you want to be picky... maybe the reason he is picking up more steam is that in his pro-day he proved that his arm is healthy.

Just a reminder... it is rare that rookie WRs do anything in the NFL their first year. We just took 2 guys in the 2nd round last year. We have to let them show what they can do under Holmgren's offense. And Massaquoi showed flashes last year. We just need depth, depth that can be drafted late.

As far as this draft is concerned, if Berry is there at #7, I think the Browns grab him. If he is not there, I think the Browns will either look at taking Odrick or trade down. I also think/hope that the Browns will take Colt McCoy in the 2nd round. Personally, I prefer McCoy over the Golden Emu especially in the type of offense that will evolve in Cleveland.

Don't scare me with the "Berry isn't there at #7" mumbo jumbo... cuz I don't like the other options. Cuz the other options that fit needs with the Browns would taste better being picked in the #13-#25 range. Odrick I like... 10 picks later. Dan Williams I like... 10 picks later. Sergio Kindle I wouldn't mind... but 10 picks later.

Basically... after Berry the defensive talent drops where it just feels like a reach picking anyone else. I just hope there is a trade partner. Because dropping down and grabbing an extra 2nd round pick would be really nice in this draft.

Sheldon Brown, mediocre workouts.

It appears this board isn't the only one cold on the prospects of drafting the golden emu...

Dawg Talkers Message Boards: Clausen

...and here's a pretty good breakdown on his positives/negatives. A lot of the negs sound awfully similar to one Bradeward Quinn:

What is your infatuation with Clausen? No one is even talking about him here and you have went out of your way three times to bring him up.

Dawgtalkers.............lolololol

I have asked a bunch of times, if Berry isnt there where are we going? No one has an answer for that. We have holmgren saying our passing attack was so terrible last year. but we arent taking a QB or WR apparently because Holmgren said so and he wouldnt lie right before the draft.
Who is it then?

NO ONE KNOWS!!!

No one knows what the Browns would do if Berry isn't there at #7... and just like i said a couple posts before this... the rest of the prospects at #7 SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF ME!

Pray for 2 things...
#1 - That Berry is there at 7
#2 - If Berry isn't there... we can trade down

Besides those two options... we are reaching to pick someone (Haden would have been acceptable and still can be, but the need is no longer as urgent since we did get Brown)

hate, your name is very appropriate, because your arguments are based on little else. When the star of the league Adrian Peterson doesn't even get credit for starting after getting over 75% of the snaps, it destroys what little credibility you have left.
hatehineygate;1687603; said:
Taylor aplit the snaps, playing a lot of passing downs and when AD was not getting carries ebcause of turnovers
Ridiculous, but unsurprising at this point. Peterson had over 75% of the carries. That's not splitting.
-Leon Washington was splitting before he broke his leg.
Jones started in 09, 08, 07, 06, & 05, which were his 5th-10th years in the league. Suggesting that he was a wasted first round pick that wasn't a starter is blatant misrepresentation to fit your world view.
-Mendy is a two down RB, 3rd downs go to Mewelde Moore
:slappy: Your worst argument yet.

He had SEVEN times as many carries. 35 vs 241.
-Must have forgot Jon Stewart
I'm well aware of Jon Stewart and followed DeAngelo closely as he was my star FF player for 2 years.

Game 1 - 14 vs 11. They got blown out and the running game was abandoned
Game 2 - 16 vs 9. Obvious advantage Deangelo.
Game 3 - 11 vs 3.
Game 4 - 18 vs 10.
Game 5 - 30 vs 17.
Game 6 - 16 vs 7.
Game 7 - 23 vs 17. The first game in two months where the carries were remotely even.
Game 8 - 21 vs 13.
Game 9 - 19 vs 11.
Game 10 - 13 vs 12. got away from running game.
Game 11 - 16 vs 9.

The next 5 games he was either out or knocked out.

Williams got 102 of his 221 carries during that span.

Keep digging yourself a bigger hole, hate.

I guess after seeing how bad the big12 defenses were you decided that wasnt a good argument?

This is where my tolerance of your sarcastic bullshit is pretty much at a limit. Especially when its not even in the remote area of intelligent or right.

Chris Johnson is the best back in the league because of

A) The production he's given the last two years specifically this year showing what he's capable of when there's a remotely credible passing threat from the QB.

b) The fact that he's also a great pass recieving option but more importantly isn't a god damn turnover machine like ADP is - thereby putting his team is awful positions to lose games. Great Example, Peterson vs Saints in the redzone. I understand its a team game, but if you were asking me who I would take right now on my team CuJo would be it.

So unless you forgot the obligatory smile ( <--- example ) then you can feel free to dismiss yourself by even suggesting a reference of college defenses v NFL defenses.

Almost forgot.... :tongue2:

Well since we were talking about how Colt McCoy played better defenses than Clausen I guess I could see where Chris Johnson would come into the argument. The facts are there, the Big12 had horrible defense in 08 and only a little better in 09.
