Kevin Wilson (HC Tulsa)

That didn't take long: Brent Pease is leaving Indiana after less than two weeks on the job to return to Boise State to serve as their OC. Unlike the principal figure in this article, I can't say I blame Pease for going back. If he has designs on becoming a HC one day, the OC position at Boise State is a better spring board than the same position at Indiana.

New Indiana Coach goes on Sports Talk radio and basically obliterates the hosts. I admire his juevos - he has all the Nick Saban "fuck you for looking in my direction" attitude but none of the Crystal Footballs.

Maybe thats enough to get IU back in a bowl game?

That was quite surprising to hear Wilson giving the radio guys grief about joking around and wasting his time.

The 'Jack' in Zakk and Jack is Jack Trudeau, who was a very successful QB at Illinois under Mike White in the '80s. He led them to a Rose Bowl, was the runnerup to Doug Flutie for the Davey O'Brien trophy in 1984, and spent several years in the NFL.

I felt the opposite, and I usually have this disdain for media guys in general. I didn't think the pre-interview ribbing they were doing was anything too much and his response would have embarrassed me if I was an Indiana fan. I don't think he could have handled that much worse.

Edit: Just relistened to the interview. The one host made a joke from what seemed like a long time ago. That coach is fucking moron.

I've said it before and I'll say it again here. Wilson will make IU football relevant and move on to bigger and better things. He has been very impressive thus far and hasn't coached a game yet.
If bigger and better things = going to second tier bowl games regularly, I agree. It's still, and always going to be, Indiana football. It was a shame they lost Coach Hoeppner, because he had the ship moving in the right direction. I was in Bloomington for the tOSU-IU game in '05, and there was a palpable excitement about their program then. There is a ceiling though...

I have a couple of friends from Indiana, and after Gunner signed on they were boasting that Indiana football is BACK!!!! So to make sure I wasn't missing anything I did some research.

First season - 1887
Conference Championships- 2 (1945, 1967)
3-6-0 Bowl Record - 9 total bowl games in 120 seasons
Games against "rival" Purdue - 37-70-6 (.327)
Conference record - 193-458-23 (.303)
Overall record - 450-616-45 (.425)

Now what exactly would being "BACK!!!" consist of? A bowl game? Because they are acting as if they are going to contend for the Big Ten in a couple years.

A more competant IU Football program is good for the Big10, correct?
