Kevin Wilson (Former HC Tulsa)

It just needs to improve dramatically or he needs to walk. Sorry to be so brutally honest but with talent upgrades we've had, this seriously is not ok. Everything looks as bad, if not worse. Get better or find a new Indiana.
Kevin didn't have any issues at Indiana, NW or OU it's not Kevin.

Personally I listened to UFM after game presser just now and to me he seemed to blame Kevin. Such fucking horseshit. Let Kevin run his system and get a QB who can throw the ball and if we aren't going to do that then to me Kevin should resign because he deserves better.

UFM needs to understand that you cannot say " I want you to improve our offense but only by doing what we already do"... well if what we do sucks major donkey dick then what's the point?

If we aren't going to let Kevin have control and total say of the offense and are going to force him to make it work with trash QB and WR play then if I'm Kevin I walk

It is not "his" offense. The talk in the off season was that it was still going to be Urban's offense. We are not running the Indiana offense of 2016. We are not running the 2008 Oklahoma offense that averaged 51 points a game. We are running the Ohio State offense from the past 5 seasons.

That's the problem. Zoolander was better than JT. Let that sink in.

I will give him credit, he didn't blame the players and say he did a good job like the last fucking moron we had. He took responsibility for it. Now fix the shit. Start with getting someone that can complete a damn downfield pass please.

I'm not sure what that means exactly. Sometimes I think we are trying to find out what works so we don't run it again and other times I think we want to find out what the defense can stop.

Agreed. I don't think it's the system though. I honestly just think it's the players, more specifically the QB. Offensively I don't think we got straight up out schemed last night. We just have a QB that can't throw worth a damn, at least not enough to where defenses have to fear him. Urban needs to give JT the hook like he did Cardale.

Wilson didn't miss open receivers.
I think Wilson feels incapable of calling a huge chunk of plays in the playbook because he doesn't trust that Barrett can make the necessary throws.

As I said in Barrett's thread, Wilson didn't call one route patterns into the flats multiple times last night (with the second play of the game being a prominent example) because he thought that was a great way to attack the Oklahoma defense- he ran that play last night because he thought it was something Barrett could execute.

I think people are looking too much into Wilson vs Urban's offense. I think what it comes down to is JT not being able to make multiple reads and adjusting his passes on the fly to the defense. I think he can make the throws but he can't make the adjustments in timing as he goes further into the progressions.

It comes down to are the coaches willing to scale back the plays to one or two reads and expand the playbook. If not they will keep going down the road of trying to get JT to making 3 or 4 reads with a limited playbook. They coaching staff needs to stop seeing JT as a pro ready QB and needs to go back to a game manager QB who best attribute is his running.

Also we don't want just Urban or Wilson's playbook, we want the best of each and to evolve the offense to something new that defense don't have tape on to make adjustments to. Under Herman our offense was constantly evolving and that's the way it should be in college football.

Exactly guys this is a case where we literally cannot fully incorporate our offense because our quarterback has a limit with how far he is willing to push the ball down the field. at this point I would assume Kevin has the mindset of why would I call a deep pass route when JT probably will not even throw the ball that way and if he does the wide receiver will either drop it or JT will under throw it.

It's amazing what people's instincts will tell them because my original feeling coming away from the spring game was the backups were more than comfortable throwing the ball downfield but JT just has something in him that isn't allowing him to really deliver the ball with authority and when necessary to take the shots down the field.

I have no doubt in my mind that either of our backups give us the better shot to run a good offense. What I hate about this situation is I genuinely will always think fondly of JT Barrett and the class that he is as a person. I will caution all of you over the next 5 weeks or so JT Barrett will probably start looking like a true quarterback but unfortunately it will be because we are about to run into some really bad teams. I honestly feel that when we play Penn State the same issues we saw last night will again emerge and we will have the same conversations that next Sunday morning as well. We still may win that game but I assure you it will not be because of our Stellar QB play.

I really hate this situation for Kevin and more particularly for JT Barrett who may be my favorite player of all time. There is no way this ends well for JT and that just sucks to think about considering what he's been through

Can't blame Wilson that much for the same things we've seen since 2015. Sure, he probably could've schemed better or something, but this rests with Urban.

Really hoping he comes around to making the necessary changes because they're bringing in top notch recruiting classes and that's not going to last if they can't produce a coherent offense.
