Karlos Williams has strong pedigree

It's football recruiting, so it's never too early to start throwing around names as we consider who the next great prospects are. One name to keep a close eye on for the Class of 2011 is a familiar one.

Safety/receiver Karlos Williams (Davenport, Fla./Ridge Community), the younger brother of Florida State linebacker Vince Williams, is one of the top sophomore prospects in the Southeast. He is a big play waiting to happen on both sides of the ball and has excellent size and change-of-direction ability.

He's already a prospect many colleges will want to keep on their lists, even though he has two seasons and some change remaining at the high school level.

Vince Williams was one of the hardest-working high school players in his class. If his younger brother even approaches the work ethic Vince had, then he could end up being an elite, national-level recruit.

It's too early to say for sure who the top players in the 2011 class will end up being, but Karlos Williams certainly is one to keep an eye on.

Karlos claims offers from Florida State, Miami, South Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, and Michigan. He would like to visit Ohio State, as well as several other school before deciding.

Karlos trains with former Buckeye wide receiver Santonio Holmes.

Williams's top three factors in selecting a school - team chemistry, academics, religion.

Some good things from this update...training with Holmes, and no locationin the top 3 things in selecting a school...

Man I love this offer. Got a chance to watch Karlos at the Tampa 7 on 7 in March. The kid is a beast. He was, imo, the most impressive kid at the event.

 He and I argued about college football for about two hours.

He's working out his visit schedule & he doesn't want to commit "too late"... Thinks he'll be a safety but some believe he'll grow into a LB...

FSU's Karlos Williams named in drug deal robbery case

A Tallahassee man who was robbed during a drug deal gone bad in June said the transaction was set up by Florida State University running back Karlos Williams, according to a Tallahassee Police Department incident report.

According to a TPD incident report, the victim said Williams was his "hook up" for marijuana. He explained to police that he would contact Williams, who then would contact a drug dealer to set up a place to meet.

The victim said in the police report that Williams set up such a deal on June 23, in which three men showed up at his house just a few blocks west of Doak Campbell Stadium, so he could buy an eighth of an ounce of marijuana for $50.

At about 5:25 p.m., the dealer, later identified in a police lineup as Daravius "Gutta" Lawrence, then 17, arrived at the home. The victim paid Lawrence who then went outside to his car to get some change. When Lawrence left, the two other suspects pulled out handguns, made the victim lie down on the floor and demanded the marijuana and all of his money, the report said.

Williams, Cappleman said, is not a suspect.

"The victim suspects that (Williams) was involved in setting up the robbery, other than that there is no other evidence he was involved," she said.

Tallahassee attorney Tim Jansen, who is representing Williams in a domestic battery investigation, said Williams is at most a witness and not under investigation in the case. He said Williams was never contacted last week to discuss the robbery as has been reported by other media outlets.

First domestic violence, now drug deals... jfc FSU as a program is completely off the rails.

I love how it's the same slimy lawyer for all these guys too... and he's apparently recommended to them by the athletic dept (as per Fox' finds with FOIA). Wonder what kind of deal is behind that...
