K Mike Nugent (All American, Lou Groza Winner, National Champion)

Yeah. I think it was the second TD they scored. The announcers were just talking about how he'd "turned it all around after missing those 3 against LSU" and how he "had his confidence back" and everything. I know, the ultimate jinx. He pushed it wide right and then went and sat alone at the end of the bench, hanging his head. Not exactly the most confident pose.......

But, according to Mike Gottfried, he missed it by 2 feet. A "good coaching tool.....the coach could go tell him, son, you missed that one by 2 feet."

I'd be happier if Nuge didn't have to attempt any field goals tonight. Let's punch it in every time. We may not score every time we have the ball...but i'd like to see us be very efficiant in scoring TDs. I only want Nugent to break the record if it is in a Buckeye win.

That's weird...the CNNSI.com box score of the game shows he made all the extra points.

Breaking team records is great and all, but to me, it's not that big of a deal. Pete and Dan are great Buckeyes too. Sure i'll be pulling for Nuge to do it, but records that compete with other teams and players in the country are more interesting to me. How about Nugent kicks the longest field goal in bowl history...or longest field goal in NCAA history (not sure how long those are.) Those would be awesome records I'd love to see broken. Whether Nugent breaks Pete's record or not, it's not going to change that he's the greatest kicker ever in Buckeye history.

The longest field goal ever kicked is 67 yards, done by three players — Steve Little of Arkansas, Russell Erxleben of Texas, and Joe Williams of Wichita St.

Can't find any info on bowl game records.

the only way Nugent is going to be kicking a 67 yard field goal is if we are on the 50 with with a couple seconds left in the half. I wish I was at the game just to watch Nuge warm up.
it was awesome. kicking right at their WRs warming up. he was booming them from pretty damn far out.

The longest FG in Div-1A college is 67 yards. But the college record is 69. They were kicking FG's off tees in the '70's.

But the all-time record for the longest field goal ever in football - at the high school, college or professional level - remains the one kicked 28 years ago at Shotwell Stadium.

It was Oct. 16, 1976, when Abilene Christian University's Ove Johansson booted the historic 69-yard field goal with 2:13 remaining in the first half of ACU's 17-0 homecoming victory over East Texas State.
