Nugent hasn't missed at all inside the 40 while both Wellock and Jones have. Jones attempted but one kick over 50 yards (shows you how much confidence his coach has). While Wellock did hit his two attempts over 50 yards, Nugent has hit 5 of 6 from over 50 (and IIRC the one he missed was blocked). Nugent also has at least three kicks (53, 55, 55) farther than the farthest kicks of either Wellock or Jones, including the 55-yard last-second game-winner against Marshall.

This is not even close.

So where is the kid that took away votes from NUGE in the big ten voting. I would have assumed if he deserved votes there, he had to be good enough to be on this list.

Yep, it's real nice to see Nuge do that. I lived to house down from in Centerville until we moved a street over. I will always remember him and his little brother playing football with me in the backyard. I also played football with AJ's older half-brother. They both will be missed when they leave, but it is nice to see some ELK pride out on the field.

Does anyone have a feel for Nuge's likely draft status. I know it is unheard of for a kicker to go in the first round, but this guy is a tremendous weapon. Just curious.

BJ Sander went in the 3rd round - Nuge will not fall past the 2nd round. If Gramatica can be picked in the third round and Janikowski can go in the first, I expect Nuge to go in the first or second. Quite frankly, I think he'll end up being a better NFL kicker, and a better clubhouse guy.
