K Jonathan Skeete (official thread)

Oh ESPN. I am so sick of hearing about the ESPN vs OSU battle but if they are giving us some spring news, I would like to hear something that really matters. Maybe some important news like: who is battling for starting positions left by future first rounders, or Texas vs OSU hype. Half their news is about a kicker that was given a 2nd chance after a big mistake. The kid was not even an impact player on the team to date. If you go to their college football home page, their is a link that says "OSU gets probation". That is bball news, not fball. WTF.

Pretorius basically followed Nugent around in 2004, learning the ropes and nuances of the American game. In the spring, Ryan switched from 32 to 85 to honor Nugent. Kind of weird, considering Ryan is damn near 27 years old, but cool nonetheless.

The entire athletic department is on probation for 3 years, so it's relevant to the football program.

But starting off coverage of the 2006 football team by mentioning Jonathan Skeete, who will probably not see the field this year, is ridiculous.

Thanks for clarifying BBill. As soon as I heard we were not missing post-season play I honestly stopped listening to the news about the probation. Good to know though.

Ya...you would think that a potential #1 team in the country, possible National Champion for the next year, would have some more constructive news that people want to read about. Anyway, I get the real news from all you fellow posters and it's top notch. This is a hell of a site.

It's just a joke that a person like Skeete can even be allowed to be an OSU student. (Someone) like that doesn't deserve to even be on campus. Let him go to UC or Kent State or somewhere less of an academic school. The fact that he is taking a spot from a law abiding student is just pathetic and sad.

Trash? From everything I've read he seems like a good kid who made a huge mistake, payed for it, and has been given a second chance. Haw and Skeete may of been the only ones busted, if they wanted im sure they could of easily pulled a clarett and went to the media and went into detail.

Like no other students on campus commit any crimes...58,000+ students with perfectly spotless records. :roll1:

Yeah, drug trafficking is the same as a DUI. :roll1: And if any of the other 58,000 are drug dealers, their asses should be history too.

Yeah, the kid made a big mistake. And mistakes have consequences. One consequence should be that a school like OSU would stay away from him.

Why do people act like attending OSU is a right? It's not. And this (guy's) chance at it should be history.

Guys, let's not bash players, even one who has been convicted of a drug crime. I am appalled by what I think Jonathan did, but I don't know all of the details. In any event, he has been readmitted to the team, so let's see what happens.

By the way, I am not saying that I don't agree 100% with Tibs on this one but I just don't think we should ever bash anyone wearing the scarlet and gray. Period.

I think it's inappropriate to bash players for playing bad. But let's not pretend that dealing drugs is a "mistake". Doing drugs can be considered a mistake. Dealing them is something else entirely.

We all know what we'd be saying if this was a scUM player.

since when?

The fact is that we don't know all of the details. There are rumblings that he won't be able to beat out the P's at kicker, so it's not out of need. I'm sure OSU isn't going out of its way to find ugly PR these days.

I don't like what he did, and if it is how it seems, then I would not take him back. But without knowing the details that will never be released, I cannot make that judgment call.

He pled guilty. I don't care what the details are. He's a drug dealer.
