K Jonathan Skeete (official thread)

The entire city of Columbus isn't on scholarship to one of the most prestigious university's in the world. I agree that he should be let back into school to get his education, but never again on scholarship.

and i can agree with that but i see no reason why he shouldnt be let back into the school or football team.

Pretty sure it's been announced several times he is not on scholarship anymore? Also, he's inelgible for this spring.. does this mean he wont be able to practice with the team?

I agree with the above quote, but I didnt say it. How'd that happen?

There was a typo in the area that quotes others post, and that got compounded on subsequent posts. I have edited all of the quoted posts involved, and believe that every quoted section now properly points to the original poster.

not condoning what he did... but sure not an advocate of one strike and done... I admire JTs second chance mentality..

Since he's enrolled, I agree with JT allowing him to walk on. I will be surprised, however, if he ever gets into a game. I'm thinking that JT has Skeete in a doghouse that could comfortably hold Clifford, the big red dog.

I'm in the group that sees a huge difference between using and dealing, regardless of which drug was involved.

you want an addl acre next to your house.. and there is a 5 acre lot for sale.. you buy the whole 5 acres.. and sell off 4 acres in 1 acre lots with a slight bump in price.. so your acre ends up 'free' .. that's probably what Skeete did.. and in the pot world, that's dealing..

Again.. I'm not condoning.. but I sure wish he made different decisions... and I think he'll end up on the football field.. as a better person who will make better decisions.. this is a HIGHLY intelligent individual if I remember correctly...

Dispatch

4/14/06

The mild uproar some fans created when Jonathan Skeete was given the chance to walk on to the Ohio State football team this spring is beginning to look like wasted energy.

While three kickers attempted eight field goals in Saturday’s jersey scrimmage, Skeete, the Gahanna kicker who was found guilty of fifth-degree felony drug trafficking in October, didn’t receive a shot.

Although coach Jim Tressel decided that Skeete should have the opportunity to walk on when he re-enrolled in school — his scholarship was stripped when he was suspended — it was clear then that Skeete would have a difficult time making the roster.

Tressel said that Skeete would be "trying out, kind of like five or six other guys we’ve allowed to walk on and try out in the spring."
Scholarship kickers Ryan Pretorius and Aaron Pettrey had seven of the tries in the scrimmage, and walk-on Andrew Good had one. They are all vying to replace departed senior Josh Huston.

Guyton, Skeete earn MEAC Weekly Football honors
MSU Sports Information
Standout MSU linebacker Jarrell Guyton was named MEAC Player of the Week.

BALTIMORE, Md. ? Morgan State linebacker Jarrell Guyton was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week and placekicker Jonathan Skeete was named MEAC Special Teams Player of the Week the league announced today.

Guyton (LB, 6-0, 225, Jr., Miami, Fla.) posted nine tackles, and a sack while also recording one of the biggest plays of his collegiate career. On first and goal at the Morgan 1-yard line in the second overtime period, QB William Blanden fumbled, allowing Guyton to recover the ball. Guyton ran the ball about 20 yards and passed it back to defensive back Everette Baker. Baker ran another 79 yards for the game-winning touchdown, thus raining all over Howard?s Homecoming celebration. This is third straight week that Morgan State has earned defensive honors.

MSU?s defense limited Howard to 34 total yards on the ground and finished the game with four sacks and forced three fumbles.

Morgan State?s defense ranks among the MEAC?s leaders. Defensive coordinator Alonzo Lee has his Bears defense ranked 2nd against the run giving up an average of 115.7 yards per game. MSU ranks 3rd in the MEAC in total defense.

Skeete (5-11, 185, So. Gahanna, Ohio) recorded six points for the Bears when he converted on 2-of-3 field goals. One of which was a season-long 46-yarder, while the other was from 23-yards out. The Ohio State transfer has converted 4-of-7 field goals and is 12-of-13 in PATs this season.

Morgan State (4-3, 3-1) will attempt to win its fourth conference game of the season when they host Delaware State (4-2, 3-1) for the Bears? Homecoming at Hughes Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on WEAA 88.9FM and streamed live on www.morganstatebears.com

Former Ohio State football player Jonathan Skeet is on track to graduate from Morgan State in the fall, according to his former attorney, John Waddy. Skeet, a Gahanna graduate, was kicked out of school at OSU in the spring of 2005 after pleading guilty to fifth-degree felony drug trafficking. He transferred to the school in Baltimore, where he was a punter and kicker for three seasons. Because he redshirted his freshman year at Ohio State, Skeete has used up his college eligibility.
