K Jonathan Skeete (official thread)

I will tell you what I know from a law school classmate that has a criminal defense practice in Columbus. The charging officer in the Skeete case had been working plain clothes for a few months. His efforts resulted in two additional criminal complaints besides Skeete. Both criminal complaints alleged illegal drug activity on OSU property taking place after the Skeete incident in February. My contact does not think there are any additional athletes involved, but who really knows for sure. One the undercover officer files the criminal complaint in his own name, the cover is blown. The feeling is that this particular officer has completed his undercover assignment, but that doesn't mean there isn't another undercover officer actively working undercover.

I have heard from sources that say that the team has been notified they are being "watched"....whatever that means

Hopefully it means JT had Bollman shove lipstick cameras up all of their asses. A little 24/7 monitoring would bring this to a halt real quick.

Ohio State kicker Jonathan Skeete has been indicted on two felony counts of drug trafficking.

If convicted on both charges, the sophomore faces up to two years in prison and a $5,000 fine. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

Skeete, 18, of Gahanna, was arrested May 11. Police said he sold marijuana to undercover agents earlier in the year.

OSU coach Jim Tressel immediately suspended Skeete.

Skeete posted $10,000 bond and was released from jail May 12. His case was bound over to a grand jury May 20, and the indictments were returned June 27.

Skeete’s attorney, John Waddy, declined comment other than to say Skeete "is a good person and a good student."

A university spokesman said yesterday that no decision would be made on Skeete’s future with the team until the court case is completed. But at the very least, it appears unlikely Skeete will play for the Buckeyes in 2005.

Both charges are fifth-degree felonies, the least serious. By definition, Skeete is accused of selling more than 20 grams but less than 200 grams of marijuana per charge.

Edit: Just read the article 2 post above this talking about Skeete. 30 ACT and 3.7 GPA. Its a shame to see it all get lost on one big mistake.

Sounds like 2 big mistakes - and those are the ones he got caught doing. you know those aren't the only 2 times he was selling. Sometimes intelligence and common sense don't coincide within the same person. it is too bad. i hope he gets his act together and repents.

So what happened to Skeete?

Obviously I am aware that he was suspended for drug trafficking but I didn't really follow the story much after that. Is he off the team or on the team? This kind of just popped back in my head again and struck my curiosity as to if he is going to ever play or not.

I wouldn't count on seeing him in Scarlet and Gray again anytime soon. I think Orange is his new uniform.
