Jordan Hicks (Philadelphia Eagles)

Couldn't he just miss the first week? It's common for students to drop and pickup classes two weeks (sometimes three) into a course and with Hicks being a top notch football player, I'm sure they could accomodate.

I think you would still need to be registered by the deadline, which is Friday.

Fred Davis committed to USC a week after their semester started, took a red eye to LA and started classes a few days later.

Hicks isn't being recruited by Pete "You're my #1 guy" "I'm not leaving because of pending NCAA investigations" Carroll, either. Mack Brown doesn't play that.

My point is that we stand in a signifcantly better position now than we did several weeks/months ago...the longer Jordan waits to decide, the better it is for us.

That I certainly agree with.

I agree that Mack is a quality guy and probably doesn't play the same games. Having said that, I can only assume that Jordan will make the decision that he feels is best for him and I would assume that while early enrollment might be part of the decision, it's likely not a deciding factor....meaning that UT could very well still be part of the equation even if he makes no decision this week.

I don't guess anything I've said goes against your comments since you're only suggesting we're in a better position and not a definite position.

For you yes. For me yes.

For a 5 star LB I am sure there are exceptions.

I'm an advisor. My school's semester started this week. I'll be registering students until Tuesday, and not a single one of them is a linebacker.

Very true, IMO.

?Texas State Gators?
Posted by mdyer January 14th, 2010

Lakota West football coach Larry Cox said a few minutes ago that Lakota West senior LB Jordan Hicks is still considering his options and there is no timetable on when he might make a college decision.

Cox said there is ?no clear-cut favorite? at this time. He acknowledged Hicks could commit to a school at anytime. It could be even Feb. 3 (National Signing Day) or beyond.

Cox said he and Hicks did a TV interview with a Columbus station today.

Cox has jokingly told Hicks to tell the media he is going to the ?Texas State Gators,? which is an obvious reference to a combination of schools Hicks is considering. (There is a Texas State University football program, but its nickname is the Bobcats).

Hicks, rated the nation?s No. 4 player overall in the 2010 class by ESPNU, is considering (no particular order) Texas, Ohio State and Florida as his final three choices.
