Johnny Manziel (unemployed)

Yeah Ben Roethlisberger has been accused of rape several times and was seriously hurt in a motorcycle crash... that's about the only difference bc Ben parties a lot. Comparing Ben makes perfect sense bc he has managed to win 2 Super Bowl despite being a party boy ... you are scolding Manziel for the same concept..

Your simplified comparison makes 0 sense. When has he been in big trouble for being late? When was he called out by his coaches for partying too much? He acted like a Pro when he was in college... well now he is a pro and he is doing what he does, live his life. If he starts missing practice, or showing up late, or is performing like crap... then we can talk.

So you're using a guy that no one likes in Toothshitberger (at least for Browns fans) to make a case for the Money Badger...makes sense I guess....

late was a metaphor for acting like a douchebag.

People already don't like Johnny Manziel either. I sure didn't when he was in college. You and many others on here sure don't. People all over the US sure hate the guy.

This comparison shows that you can live it up a little and still be successful. I feel that is pretty evident.

We'll just have to see if he is successful. I have my doubts for many other reasons....

I get the doubts. I mean he is a high risk high reward. He could be what he was in college and just have something special. Or he could suck, then get caught up in the hate and limelight and turn into Ryan Leaf. This is why I wanted Bortles. However, Johnny is on our team now so I am behind him until he gives me reason not to be. So far I like the reports coming from the teams side of the tracks.

Of course the team is going to be positive about his progress so far, he was a 1st round draft pick. They aren't going to say he sucks right out of the gate. And I don't think he's that much of a high reward guy either - he's not a superior QB prospect ala Manning or Marino or Troy Aikman or even Drew Brees. His style of play that we have observed just doesn't translate to the NFL historically.

I don't get this attidude, myself. What exactly was Manziel in college? He was an exciting and successful player against bottom feeder reams and a 40ish% completion percentage guy against damn near every other decent team he had faced.

Didn't your other handle already say all this stuff in the Browns thread before you got banned?

All I know is that a lot of people who have posted on this thread are going to eat a lot of crow one way or another because JM is either going to be a good fit or a very bad fit.

That's why I'm hesitant to go all in on either side until I see him play in the fall. He really could go either way, but probably won't end up in the middle. IMO he'll either be the best QB the Browns have had since they returned or he'll be a name on the Couch jersey with five more hanging below it in a couple years.
