Johnny Manziel (unemployed)

Not a Browns fan or a Johnny Football fan by any means, but the heat he's taking for the Vegas weekend is beyond ridiculous. Spend a long weekend in Vegas and the only negative is a few pics of you by the pool with a bottle of liquor, I'd say you're doing alright.

You Browns fans defending him all of a sudden are hilarious to me, since it's obvious your cries of "he just went to a party in Vegas, why is he getting bashed?" are completely dependent on what color his helmet is.

It's not the fact that he went to one party in Vegas, it's the fact that all he does is dick around and seek the wrong kind of spotlight. He has the most difficult job in the NFL, and he prepares for it by partying 24/7. And you guys wonder why we're watching and laughing at him? The flameout is going to be tremendous...and you Browns fans are going to be shouting over top of us telling us that we don't understand your pain bc he was on your team, as if we didn't see it coming from the start.

Nobody who is mocking his stupid decision making is morally opposed to anything he's doing. It's not the fact that he's partying that bothers anybody. It's that he's doing all these things that NEVER work out if you want to be a legit starting QB, and he keeps doing them over and over and over. We're not the uptight ones for pointing that out....he's the dipshit for not knowing that it will catch up to him.

Joe Namath and Jim McMahon are two names that come to my head immediately that lived a exorbitant fame lifestyle and still were very successful. We drafted Manziel and we knew who he was, so for any Browns fan who wanted him, or anyone in the FA, to try and change him is just ridiculous. It doesn't matter what color his helmet is, he could play for the Steelers and I still would see no reason why he can't do what he did this past weekend. Heck speaking of the Steelers, Big Ben is no stranger to partying (unfortunately he rapes too) and he has 2 rings under his belt.

From all accounts so far he works his butt off at the training so far. Pettine has gone out of his way to praise him and how humble he really is for the spotlight he gets. From what I hear, Manziel consulted with Pettine before deciding on Vegas and was given his blessing. Maybe perhaps Pettine is smart enough to realize that it's freakin May, he has plenty of time to learn and get better, 3 days off (he still studied) is not a big deal in May.

I wanted Bortles more than anyone personally, but even I cannot sit here and condemn a kid for having a few days of reasonable fun. If he is pulling this in July... then talk to me. We all know if Bortles or pretty much anyone else would have gone to Vegas, nobody would have cared. We don't know what they were doing though because nobody pays attention to them like they do Johnny.

Sorry.....I'm not going to feel sorry for the attention whore when he gets attention.

Comparing Big Ben and Manziel makes me think you don't get the point. I don't follow Ben around 24/7 to see what he really does.....but from what I do know of him their lifestyles are no where near each other. There isn't really a successful comparison to make because nobody that spends the amount of time Manziel does making sure people notice him actually become successful. I'm too young to remember McMahon or Namath, but I have my doubts as to their off field escapades reaching Manziel status.

Simplified comparison: You get fired from your job because you're always late. When you apply to a new job they call your old job and they are told you're really good at what you do.....but you're always late. During your interview they tell you to just make sure you're not late anymore.

First day on the new job, you're late.

The assumption being that he's partying 24/7, which is exactly the message people who write articles about him partying at all have successfully sold you.

I don't care about the Browns or whether or not he flames out. The hand wringing over a rich 21-year old that plays a game spending a holiday weekend in Vegas is just hilarious to me.
Thank you. I will also add on that fact that I didn't see pics of Bortles, BridgeWater or any other rookie QB in Vegas over the weekend.
You won't see pictures of a lot of players partying. Not because they don't, but because no one gives a shit. For whatever reason a picture of craaaaazy party guy Johnny Manziel makes people lose their fucking minds.

As I mentioned already....it has nothing to do with the fact that he hung out in Vegas one time.

.
You should have been following Big Ben 24/7 a few years ago when there were a rape allegations associated with him. I guess if you are not a Browns fan why do you even give a damn what Manziel even does. You sure have dedicated enough posts to his Vegas vacation.

There's plenty of material indicating the people writing articles are pretty spot on. We're talking about the same guy that was dismissed from the Manning camp.

I don't care about the Browns or whether or not he flames out.

Then why give such grief on our opinions and mount such a defense of Foosball?!

5 posts is a lot to you? One of those clearing up a confusion? Are you sure you're not being oversensitive about it because it's a negative view against a person on your favorite team?

I know about Roethlisbssosusbsosusgers rape accusations. Different animal than appearing to not really give a fuck about your job. Hell....Aaron Hernandez killed a few people and was still dedicated enough to be a star. I'm not saying raping is preferred over partying...just that in the context of this discussion, it's not a similar comparison.

Yeah Ben Roethlisberger has been accused of rape several times and was seriously hurt in a motorcycle crash... that's about the only difference bc Ben parties a lot. Comparing Ben makes perfect sense bc he has managed to win 2 Super Bowl despite being a party boy ... you are scolding Manziel for the same concept..

Your simplified comparison makes 0 sense. When has he been in big trouble for being late? When was he called out by his coaches for partying too much? He acted like a Pro when he was in college... well now he is a pro and he is doing what he does, live his life. If he starts missing practice, or showing up late, or is performing like crap... then we can talk.

According to Dave Chawdowski (SP?), Chanel 3 news in Cleveland, Manziel was brillant in the OTA workouts today. Dave reported, Manziel worked with the second team, and everything he did looked great. Tell the Dawg Pound, JFF is coming to Cleveland.
