Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

Yes you are.

You know damn well that for more than fifty years that one team in every single NCAA sanctioned football game was required to wear a white jersey.

It is absurd to compare that to the current situation. You know that it's absurd. You're just arguing to argue at this point.

Black is not recognized as one of Ohio State's school colors. Before you reply with another steaming pile of disingenuousness, tell us of a single instance prior to this argument when you referred to the Buckeyes as anything other than the "Scarlet & Gray". If you can do that honestly then you might have an argument.
If the argument is that black isn't a school color, then the same argument should be valid for white. Of course I know how stupid that argument would be...it's just that those against black for the reason of it not being a school color (even though it is) don't know how stupid their argument is. Are you saying nobody would throw a fit if the NCAA made a rule that said their "you must wear white on the road" policy was changed to "you must wear black on the road"? BUT THAT'S NOT IN OUR FIGHT SONG!!!!!

How I or anybody refers to Ohio State has absolutely nothing to do with what colors are counted as Ohio State's colors. Nobody is going to call Ohio State the Scarlet and Gray and Black and White and Green and Pink in October and ugly brown when a VT student shoots a bunch of people and Camo when we're honoring the Army. It's not "Scarlet and Gray" because those are the only colors allowed to be associated with Ohio State. It just doesn't make sense to list them all. Those are the main colors, but denying that black and white aren't in our color scheme is stupid.

Looky here: http://www.homedepot.com/hdus/en_US...Supplies/Docs/Glidden_TeamColors_Brochure.pdf
Ohio State colors. When my brother painted his basement, he got Ohio State Scarlet, Ohio State Gray, Ohio State White, and Ohio State Black. You think Glidden could call it Ohio State Black if it wasn't affiliated with Ohio State?

What about Florida State? I don't hear anybody calling them the Garnet and Gold and Light Gold and White and Black......and yet here we have official team colors associated with Florida State. It's almost like fight songs and sayings don't have dick to do with an exhaustive list of what the official team colors actually are.

It's not a conversation about tradition, it's about what Ohio State's colors are. Clearly, black is one of them.
Exactly. LSU for example almost exclusively wears white home or away yet their colors are purple and gold. I get teams having to be a lighter color due to the rules but LSU wears the color home and away regardless 85 percent of the time. It's not a official color per their website but it IS part of their routine gear.

It's a outlining color and while it's not officially a color of theirs they can go with white because it's a secondary color. Just as Black is a secondary color of ours. I love our traditions and our colors but personally I enjoy the curve balls we do once a year.

Then so are purple, and light blue, and puce, and dark aqua, and light aqua, and ... ...

But wait, it turns out those all are just acceptable colors to use as part of OSU's branding guidelines, and the former are actually just the specified versions of black and white that are acceptable to "ensure consistency and protect our signature colors". What are the "signature colors", one might ask? "Scarlet and gray in combination are as well known as our name. They are our signature colors by which our audiences identify us as Ohio State."

To be clear, though... I don't care one way or the other. We talkin bout jerseys. Not a game, jerseys!

Eh....secondary palette. The main colors are Scarlet and Gray. With those colors are Black and White.

As much as I'm arguing in this thread...I don't give a shit either. I just don't like stupid arguments, and "It's not men of Scarlet and Gray and Black" is a stupid argument. I've yet to hear a valid reason for all the angst about black jerseys.

WE'LL LOSE OUR IDENTITY. Uh no.
IT'S TRADITION. It's one game a year.
BLACK ISN'T OUR COLOR. It kinda is.

If the color black killed somebody's dog or fired them, then that would make sense to me. People in this thread who are anti-black are as much against it as I am against Penn State. What did black do to those people?

This is my only point of disagreement--it's a color we use, but it's not OUR COLOR, and an argument that uses "branding guidelines" to say that it is... seems a little disingenuous. Scarlet & Gray are OSU's (only) colors. But you're right: this isn't about changing our beliefs or values or even traditions; it's just about putting on a new jersey that most people seem to think looks pretty cool on jerseys. There's been some black on there for a long time: now it's more black. We still bleed scarlet and gray.

Do they have black in their colors like we do? No.

Sure black is our 3rd and very under utilized color but it's a COLOR of ours.

USC- red/gold
Yankees- Blue/white
ttun- vomit

That's why you've seen Georgie go to all black uniforms. They have black as a 3rd color (although very subtle like ours)

Who the [Mark May] cares. We get 12 guaranteed games a year of our buckeye and i'll be damned if i'm upset that they aren't playing in the same uniforms they've always played in.

Not that they've worn it, but the idea is there

Cinci can throw out knowledge and History all he wants but those goddamn uniforms of TBDBITL are BLACK. If they're suppose to be blue then they should be freaking blue but I have a feeling none of you (yourself included cinci) would EVER want to see TBDBITL in blue. Particularly when playing a certain school from the North.
Never let proven facts prevent you from continuing your ignorant rants...
