Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

I think people may actually like them better once they see them on the field. Those types of jerseys are sweet that have the tight fit. It makes the players looked ripped and the baggy jerseys are just trashy looking. Plus I hate wearing the baggy jerseys and it's easier for someone to tackle you by grabbing your jersey. Just imagine how uncatchable Teddy will be now that they can't grab his jersy:biggrin: . Plus I like the retro look but they should have kept the scarlet stripes, just smaller.

I'm sorry, but I respectfully disagree. I have never liked this new style of tight fit jersey. Every year I hope that the trend is over, yet every year another team falls victim. Thankfully, some teams like BYU have gone back to the traditional look.

I can't figure out what all the fuss is about with these...

I agree that the older jerseys looked better, but would you rather have jerseys become a fashion statement, or something that adds to the production of the offense/defense (ie. less jersey tackles on offense and less cases of our defense being held)?

I think they look better tight but there is no doubt the jerseys you describe are much easier to grab ahold of. With the new jerseys, it makes it almost impossible to grab.

The issue is not the new material. No one has argued for a return to "old technology." Tressel's statement convinces me that this jersey's color scheme is more Nike than OSU... "We'll tell you what your new uniform will look like... this will be cool, just like the ones we make for the Seahawks, Bengals and the Titans." His answer seems to suggest that the mail is running against the new black striped jersey... and why should helmet stripes and jersey stripes match? That's a real WTF. Put me down in the "looks like the kind of shit U. Cincinnati would wear" column.

I guess i don't see the "tradition" arguement re the sleeves, etc, 2 years ago our pants were shiny, 20 years ago the sleeves were black and white and the shoes were white, 30 years ago the numerals were bigger, and the shoes were scarlet, 38 years ago the numerals were black, 39 years ago the helmets were scarlet, 40 years ago the helmets were white with a single scarlet stripe, 30 years ago the buckeye leaves started on the right side of the helmet and then went to the left side when full, now it's the other way around, 40 years ago, there were no buckeye leaves,
,, the fact that the unis had been relatively unchanged for 20 years does not establish a tradition,,,they expanded the stadium recently and took out the jesse owens track, where were the traditionalist then? there have been many traditions set up over the years, but the uniforms are hadrly one of them. They changed significatly atleast 4 times during woody's tenure alone.
