Should fans have a say in if the university wears the Pro Combat jerseys or not? If players on the team like them, who's more important than them? I get that the "traditionalists" don't like them, but what does that ultimately mean? Former players haven't been very outspoken out about it and they ARE the tradition.

So much for the leaf sticker color :shake:

New style jerseys that are flashy looking are appealing to teenagers, and are very integral in recruiting. How do you think Oregon came from nothing into relevance and then into top contender status? Flashy jerseys. The traditionalists don't like them and don't necessarily "get" today's style, but who cares? They sell to 16-18 year old kids and make them want to play football in them, which is all that matters. Maryland is the most recent school to implement the Oregon model of having hundreds of different jersey combo's. They will start getting better and better recruiting classes and will become a more competitive program. I also want to point out that I am in no way advocating that Ohio State should take this route, as it is obviously not needed.
...

If you aren't kidding that may be the dumbest thing I've read in the past 12 months.

If you are kidding you forgot to talk about Oregon's padded socks.

If changes in uniform design could be shown to enhance recruiting, I'd say fuck tradition; do whatever the kids like. I'm not sure that such a demonstration is really possible, though.

Very little about Big College Football really honors tradition. Traditionally, head coaches were not paid five million dollars annually to oversee young men train to play a ball game.

I understand the desire of the old farts on the board to roll back the calendar to a kinder, gentler time. To those people I say, move to the Dakotas; time has stood still there for quite some time. Rural Indiana has much of the same "appeal."
