Jarrett Guarantano (QB Tennessee, transfer to Washington State)

What i take from that is he is waiting until after NSD, see who from the 15 class goes where. Hopefully taking 2 QBs this year doesn't hurt us.

I don't think taking 2 2015 QBs hurt us, since by the time he gets here, Barrett could be gone and Gibson and Burrow would be sophomores or RS frosh, not exactly ruling out being able to start by year 2-3.

well plus you also have Clark coming in
in 2017 our QB situation will have Gibson, Burrow, Clark and Guarantano (if he verbals)
Thats alot of talent, and kids that will be around for at least 3 years together (more then likley) and im sure something that he's really thinking about before he verbals
Waiting 3 years to start can be a deal breaker, kids dont want to wait and learn these days
although i still like Gibson more at WR then i do QB but he'll get his chance im sure.

Dont forget he completed 65% of his passes this year, Joe Burrow was at 70% IIRC so its not like he's a brandon weeden with a rocket but highly inaccurate

What!?! But Weeden could hit clay pigeons! Future of the Browns and Super Bowl champion! Greatest ever!

Sorry to go off topic from Jarrett.

I have no doubt he will be more "live football accurate" than Brandon Weeden. I also don't think that the 2 '15 QB prospects in the fold will affect his decision, since he has us as his leader and those 2 have been committed to us for a little while now. He knows the situation and still has us on top. Do we land him in the end? I don't know. It's a long way until signing day for him. At the moment though, he has us on top WITH Gibson and Burrow committed.

Didn't Cardale wait OVER 3yrs to start? And it took a season ending injury to Braxton in order for JT to start or he would've sat for 3yrs. I'm hoping winning trumps their need to immediately play. And we know Urban has no problem keeping competition open.

Cardale was also a 3* QB that his second best option out of High school was Toledo, not an Oklahoma or Alabama. not even one bit comparable

Winning isn't (and shouldn't be) enough to convince a kid to just come along for the ride. If he's the stud that everybody claims, I want him at OSU like everybody else...but first and foremost the kid should do what's best for him....which is go where he feels he can play, win, and get to the next level as long as that's not Michigan or Penn State. This is true for all recruits at every position.

Your star rating doesn't guarantee you a spot in college if you're aim is to go to a top ranked team.

What does that have to do with his second option being Toledo compared to Oklahoma or Alabama? Oklahoma doesn't seem to be hitting Home Runs with QBs anymore and it looks like he could start as a true freshman. Point is Jones wasn't seen as being that good out of HS, again, they are not one bit comparable. Jones went to Ohio State even to sit the bench because it was his far and away, light years ahead better option then any other school, not the same for Guarantano.

Of course I agree with that. And I want the kid to do whats best, that's a given. But I also want him in S&G and win titles for us. Screw everyone else. And winning usually does get kids to come along for the ride, a very big reason 5stars annually commit and sign with Alabama.

How is sitting on the bench ever better than playing? Regardless of the school? There's no way the NFL would be looking at Jones if not for these last 3gms, and Barrett was in. And the fact that Oklahoma isn't hitting home runs with QBs would work in our favor. For all we know Jarrett could win the job as RS frosh. I would love him in this class

Because you cant just say regardless of the school, it DOES make a diffrence. you're telling me NFL scouts rather have someone from Toledo instead of Bama? i call BS. and yes i sure can say theres a way the NFL wouldn't be looking at him because its a whole diffrent coaching staff, talent on the team, etc you cant just say Adrian Peterson would have played at say Texas San Antonio and still put up the numbers he did at OU.

If you're good enough the NFL will find you. Brett favre and Dan Marino made it to the NFL and had HOF careers coming from small schools. As did Jerry rice and Walter Payton, and the list goes on. 3/4 of the starters in the AFC North at QB didn't go to big football factory schools... .
Sorry for getting off topic
