James Quick (WR Louisville)

It will be very interesting to see how this turns out. Just my speculation, but I think he really likes the idea of being close to home and playing for the hometown school. I think he's really enticed by what Urban Meyer has to offer though, which is stepping into a big time program with the chance to play for a national championship.

If Coach Meyer can pull this one off, I can't say I'll be surprised but in years past, I wouldn't have given us much of a chance.

I agree, and I personally like the Bucks chances in this recruiting battle. I know what Strong is offering is definitely enticing, but committing to a 12-0 team with their eye on a National Title in 2013 has to be the tipping point in this whole battle. Louisville will compete for conference titles, I just don't see them playing for a crystal football anytime soon.

You'd hope so, but you can't get inside the minds of 18 year olds all the way right?

There is hope since he wants to look at Ohio State again though....

I just hope Urban still has some magic up his sleeve. Adding Quick and two of Mitchell, Johnson, or Sanders makes this recruiting class one of the best Ohio State has seen. It's an impressive haul regardless, these last few commits will be the icing on the cake.

Usually if a kid takes an official to the hometown team this late and seals the deal on the visit, word gets out really fast. Surprisingly quiet so far.

As to which program gets him to the NFL, while a lot of us believe that if you are good, scouts will find you, kids may not see it that way. All they see and hear are ESPN highlights on the Top 10 teams, the Heisman hype, ESPN gameday, and power programs telling them about the number of players their program has in the NFL. There's a reason why Urban did the ESPN training days, and I'm sure our coaches are in his ears that he can be for OSU what Amari Cooper was for Bama.

There's going to be five OSU commits at the game, one that will verbal to tOSU during the game, and another (Gibson) that will be a Buckeye once grades are in order. We should know about Quick one way or the other before the official announcement.

Quick?s father says Louisville official visit went well
Posted on December 16, 2012 by Steve Jones

Trinity wide receiver James Quick?s father said the family enjoyed their official visit over the weekend to Louisville.

?It was a nice trip,? said Rhonyia Quick, a former U of L player. ? ? They said everything you want to hear, but you have weigh your options.?

The elder Quick said they watched the Cardinals? bowl practice and attended a film session and team meetings. He said Bridgewater was his son?s player host.

The visit gave Quick, who wants to major in accounting, according to his dad, a chance to learn more about the academic offerings at U of L

?Louisville is a great school,? the father said. ?That?s my alma mater.?

Rhonyia Quick said U of L didn?t try to convince James to commit this weekend and that his son still plans to announce his pick at the U.S. Army All-American game on Jan. 5.

Rhonyia Quick said his son?s decision will be entirely up to him, and he deferred to his son when asked which school he is favoring. On Tuesday, James Quick said U of L was a slight leader over Ohio State, with Oregon, Kentucky and Tennessee under consideration.

?He?s 18. I let him do his thing,? he said. ?He?s the one who has to go there, whichever school he attends, and has to be there for four years, so whatever makes you happy. He isn?t going to make a bad choice either way.?

James Quick could be reached for an interview Sunday night but reaffirmed on Tuesday night what he said for months ? that U of L was a slight No. 1 over Ohio State. He?s also considering Oregon, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Rhonyia Quick said his son knows multiple U of L players well ? he mentioned sophomores Bridgewater, defensive back Calvin Pryor and wide receiver DeVante Parker as a few ? because he has made many visits to the schools.

Rhonyia Quick said he thinks his son is intrigued by the idea of possibly playing alongside Parker, a former star at Ballard High School, for a couple years.

?That?s who he looked up to,? he said. ?That?s who he wanted to play like.?

He said U of L, like Ohio State did during an official trip last month, explained some of the ways it hoped to used Quick.

?Underneath routes, fly routes, reverses, stuff like that,? Rhonyia Quick said.

Scout $ - Louisville still 'ahead' for James Quick

12/17

From the Louisville site.....Says it's real close between Louisville & Ohio State. Will make his decision at the US Army Game (Jan 5th) and says the coaching staff being able to connect with his family is the most important to him.

Part of me hopes that he doesn't want to upset the home team by saying it's neck and neck and does commit to OSU, but I truly feel like he just wants to make a commitment at the US Army game and wants it to be a surprise and ends up at UL. Hope I'm wrong.

Not that I think tOSU is out, but... well, I hate to lose a great kid, but I do like it when it's down to tOSU and a school that is not likely to compete with tOSU in a season for a B1G or national title. I hate the losses to places like 'bama or scUM so much more. Hate.

Wow. I've never seen that many recruits for one particular school in the UA game or AA game. FSU had a bunch but goodness, thats awesome!

Immediate playing and a possible Heisman candidate at QB in an offense that loves playmakers......

That describes both schools really. I can't see how he can make a bad decision here so good luck to James anywhere he decides to go.

You just can't hate on a kid who wants to play for the home team. Although, the SEC fans at work say he "ain't that good". LOL
