James Quick (WR Louisville)

http://ohiostate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1450711

Not really surprised that Louisville (Ken.) Trinity defensive end Jason Hatcher, a USC commitment since July, has decided to look around and take visits, especially to Louisville and Kentucky. His own head coach Bob Beatty said verbal commitments are "as trustworthy as a needle in a balloon," and he encourages his players to take officials. I have always had a gut feeling that Hatcher and teammate James Quick would end up at Louisville together if Charlie Strong stayed on as head coach.

Confidence is high out of Ohio State regarding Quick and he could commit to the Buckeyes before Hatcher's final visit to Louisville the weekend of Feb. 1. But Louisville will push hard to have both on campus that weekend even though Quick has already taken his official.

Everyone is making too big of a deal by way of comparison. James is not Michael Bush and Strong being at Louisville IS a big factor in his commitment.

He may still go to Louisville if Strong leaves but we have almost zero chance if he stays. If he leaves, we have a very strong shot. It really is that simple in the case of James Quick...other recruitments are irrelevant here.

Wait a second, we though it was a very simple case and that you had it all figured out for us. So you are saying that even though Charlie Strong just got a multiple million dollar deal from Louisville and spurned multiple SEC teams, that James may still end up here at tOSU? Had I known that earlier, I would've bet my vCash on Quick rather than going all in on Johnson!

Seemed that simple and my gut still says it is, but guts don't have as many nerve endings as the brain apparently. Not sure really and please don't flood me with science. And yes, I will be very happy to be wrong here :)

Louisville Catholic Sports - Billy Reed on Bob Beatty and James Quick

12/18

Quick's decision coming soon; will it be UofL or OSU?

Trinity High?s James Quick, the only Kentucky high school player to star on both state championship football and basketball teams in the same academic year, will receive the Paul Hornung Award at tomorrow?s Louisville Quarterback Club meeting at Big Spring Country Club.

But don?t expect Quick, a five-star football recruit, to announce where he plans to play his college ball. His high school coach, Bob Beatty, confirmed yesterday that Quick probably will make the announcement on Jan. 5 before he plays in the nationally televised U.S. Army All-American Game in San Antonio.

I have a hard time thinking he wouldn't contribute immediately to our WR corps. Someone that big, strong, fast, that has great hands and, maybe most importantly, can make the first, second, and third tackler miss him, is exactly what we need in this offense. He's a perfect fit for what Urban is looking for.
