James Quick (WR Louisville)

I have held the same hope too. Same one almost exactly that I had for Dorian Johnson and the school he picked is a step below the one Quick has in mind.

Dorian's comments were never as glowing as James's, Pennsylvania football is a bit different than Kentucky, and UM is handling this recruitment... where as I don't think he was as involved with Dorian.

You can really take the same comparison with many recruits, but in the end each individual is different.

If this were JT handling James' recruitment, I would agree with many of the doom and gloom posts in this thread.

But seeing as though Urban is at the helm and handling things personally, I remain cautiously optimistic.

Some of those scars from signing day over the last 10 years will never go away.

Those ten years with 7 Big Ten Championships and 9 wins vs. Mich.? Yeah, those were rough.

Those years were not rough at all. JT's ability to close down the stretch was well documented and well lamented.

Exactly. As great as the 10 years of JT were, I don't think any Buckeye fan who followed recruiting during those years can say they were optimistic about signing day decisions in general.

Trinity High School wide receiver James Quick was named recipient of the 20th annual Paul Hornung Award, presented to Kentucky's top high school football player by the Louisville Quarterback Club.

The announcement was made Thursday morning by Quarterback Club President Gordon Crawford.

Quick is the all-time leading receiver in Kentucky high school football history with 280 receptions, the only Kentucky prep player to play on football and basketball state championship teams in the same season (2011), and the defending state champion and record holder in the 200-meter dash.

Quick scored touchdowns in four state championship games and helped lead Trinity to state titles in 2010, 2011 and 2012. He finished the 2012 season with 85 receptions for 1,413 yards and 16 TDs.

Quick is the son of former University of Louisville player Rhonyia Quick (1989-1991) and plans to make a recruiting visit to Louisville this weekend.

He has been chosen to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Jan. 5 in San Antonio where he said he will announce his college choice.

Quick will be honored for the Hornung Award at a luncheon in Louisville on Dec. 19 at Big Spring Country Club.

Trinity five-star WR James Quick said Louisville is "still slightly ahead of Ohio State" after his weekend official visit to U of L.
Quick said in order for "either school (U of L, Ohio State) to get me, they'll have to connect with my family. That's important to me."

It will be very interesting to see how this turns out. Just my speculation, but I think he really likes the idea of being close to home and playing for the hometown school. I think he's really enticed by what Urban Meyer has to offer though, which is stepping into a big time program with the chance to play for a national championship.

If Coach Meyer can pull this one off, I can't say I'll be surprised but in years past, I wouldn't have given us much of a chance.
