Jameis Winston (QB Browns)

Unless and until any responsible person in Tallahassee states that Winston has been detained as a suspect, I'll continue to regard Winston no differently from any other D1 quarterback. I'm passing no judgment on the victim at all, but those of you who are acting as though Winston has been shown to be guilty of anything are jumping the gun. You're assuming he's a suspect, and so far as I know nobody in the police department has suggested such a thing.

I don't believe anyone is acting as if we know he is guilty of anything. However, Winston's attorney stated: "We hope this case will be resolved quickly in Mr. Winston's favor," which would indicate that he is, indeed a suspect, since cases are not usually resolved "in favor" of witnesses.

There's a lot of strange info in all directions regarding what the police dept has disclosed.
Apparently the case was swept under the rug until the media made an inquiry. Then it was suddenly handed off to the DA ... ? Whose said some interesting things implicating the police department.
It's not clear if Winston is a suspect or just a person of interest but he wasn't interviewed during the initial investigation which allegedly "concluded" in March
At the same time, FSU people are claiming it's related to another guy that they kicked off the team for sexual assault in the Summer... but that kind of reeks as a rather convenient pigeonhole to me.

I have no idea what's really going on and Winston's involvement with the case is, about the only thing I can conclude is that the PD looks pretty damn bad right now.

Total speculation on my part but it could be that the reason that Winston has not been interviewed is because he has been advised not to by his attorney

I'm not one to blame the media for the ills of either our program or individual players, but this is fucking disgusting me. We catch a shit sandwich because Meyer only suspended Hyde for 4 games for taking a slap at a chick who hit first, and he only got off that light due to video evidence substantiating his version of events.

Meanwhile, we have this guy as a suspect in forcible rape, and nobody seems to be saying shit as to why he's played up to this point or why he will seemingly continue to play. It's times like these, I almost wish the big ten and PAC would just pull the f%&k out of major college football and leave it to the FSUs, SECs and ESPNs of the world. Go full blown Hutchins on their asses.

Yo, Dude. That sounds like a BWI post. Are you on the wrong forum?

It's quite the opposite. The last couple of years have clearly shown that the Paterno cult only cares for football.

While I've always loved college football, I'm getting to the point that the necessary compromises along with the dysfunctional influence of ESPN have reached a tipping point where universities who are first and foremost worried about being universities are going to need to think long and hard about reigning in the beast. One of the reasons I feel so strongly in favor of a true NFL minor league for the Vince Young's and Incognitos of the world.
