Jahsen Wint and Amir Riep FOUND NOT GUILTY

What a mess and prayers for all involved.

From the young lady’s perspective, I hope that she’ll be OK. I cannot even begin to imagine...

From tOSU / and program’s perspective, my hopes are that they handle this exactly by the book. Whoever first was made aware, that their immediate action, assuming a mandatory reporter in this case, properly escalated the information post haste.

Ultimately, I think that this an issue that will be dealt with at the University level as opposed to the program level. Provided that the information was in Day’s hands prior to the University acting, my hopes are that his actions were immediate while the University sorted through process. Day’s process is simple, escalate to AD and immediately suspend from all activities and facilities in one move... and then wait for the University to sort it out.

While this is a complete disaster for everyone involved, it could be worse for even more if protocol was not followed.

You're right that this is now a university level issue, and I hope they handle it to the letter.

The only possible blow to the football program would be if Day or another high profile employee had any info about the situation and sat on it. Given the compressed seven day window between the incident and the arrests, this seems highly unlikely.

Just read a story from the cincy paper saying the video was recorded after the sex/rape. According to that article the victim was crying, but the video did not show her face. Evidently, she asked as she was crying if she needed to show her face as he asked her to say it was consensual. He told her no she didn't need to show her face and was laughing at her.

If that article is correct and accurate, these bastards have embarrassed OSU, their families, themselves, and more importantly, devastated a young lady and they need to get what is coming their way. Pathetic POS that they are. Prayers for the young woman,.

Enjoy Lucasville, gentlemen.

You know, my only thoughts and concerns are for the victim. That’s all I care about. I want to be clear on that.

If these allegations are true and you are either of these guys how do you ever face your family and friends again? I mean, you will be staring through a sheet of glass and talking through a phone obviously. I just can’t imagine being a young man waking up to that reality. You never come back from that.

This whole situation sounds pretty terrible all around, but I do have one inappropriate question. Why suck a dick? Noted I'm a 40 year old dude, but if I'm getting held down and forced to do something I'm telling them I'm keeping anything they put in my mouth. Just saying that would probably have been enough to end the situation since it would have been a pretty clear indication that she wasn't into what was happening. I understand that she was terrified, but it would be a pretty big escalation to go from a perceived tag team to beating the shit out of a girl because she said no. They probably realized after it was over that she wasn't into it and stupidly took the video. Either way probably not guys that you want at your school.
Well two huge, athletic dudes are forcing themselves upon you. I’d be fearing a possible bullet in the back of my dome if I was her.

And ... being as careful as I can be... it's not like we're talking about a couple of surefire first round picks who might be being exploited, here.

This. There are situations where a recorded consent would not necessarily be incriminating. This does not appear to be in any way, shape or form one of those situations.

You are making assumptions about the content of the video. The video could be anywhere from her in tears to her enthusiastically consenting....and there are hundreds of possibilities between those two points this could fall. Given they have already been charged, it sounds like the video is not good (though I don't understand why they would keep it)...the point is, no one here has seen the video, so it could go either way...if you cant imagine more than one scenario, you just aren't thinking hard enough.

I think you answered your rhetorical question. I can definitely imagine a wide range of scenarios if there was just a “consent video”. However, once I read about said video in a police affidavit after arrests and charges have been made, any scenarios other than the obvious are too far fetched to entertain.

In the USA everyone should be "presumed innocent until proven guilty" and if they end up being acquitted and/or cleared of all charges; I would hope Ohio State gives them the financial assistance necessary to complete their degree. However, for the football program; I think Ohio State has just gotten to (or went under) the 85 scholarship limit.

I just can't imagine being someone who would commit rape.

Nor should you. When you do something as heinous as that, you should be done with.
Totally agree. My point was not to find sympathy for them because there isn’t any simply to say they never come back from this. They are done. My hope is that the victim can work through it. Just an awful deal.

If kidnaping and raping a female and then filming her giving a tearful and forced consent video is wrong...
WTF?!! Are you seriously trying to make a joke about this? How can you be that callous? Nobody should be making light of this situation! With a daughter who is a junior at Ohio State, I can't imagine the hell the victim and her family is going through and then on top of that knowing there people trying to make a joke about it.

IMO, the damage is done forever. If this were a case where the woman was just accusatory, and the players were cleared after questioning, then sure bring 'em back. The video, regardless of the outcome, is their death knell. Even if the players are completely exonerated from rape of any kind, I have a hard time believing the taping didn't violate some sort of ethics code - hazing, harassment, conduct unbecoming, etc. There's no way the university could publicly announce, "yeah, the players were cleared, they just made a video of a girl crying after sex while they were laughing." Had a tape like this surfaced sans rape, these two would still be in a ton of trouble based on public image alone.
