If telling the truth in order to get a job is wrong .....than I'm just as bad as TP.

If he fights the suspension it will have nothing to do with violations. That was the reason they were considering not letting him in the draft. That decision was already made...he was in the draft and picked.

I think the appeal would just be players union disagreeing with a suspension of one of their members who didn't do anything wrong under NFL rules. If they claim he "played the system" then they probably should have just not let him in the draft at all.

How freaking hard is it to understand that if you get an envelope with cash in it it's not allowed? I could give a rats ass about how difficult it is to understand and fill out an expense report. Hell, Mark Titus documented and made fun of the process in his blog when he was on the team.

The bottom line is that you don't accept an envelope with cash in it. There is no difficulty in understanding that fact. The players need to be accountable for their actions and justifying these actions or making excuses for them is rubbish. Period.
I wonder how black-and-white your boss is when he gives you your annual performance review.

the first post you quoted is referring TP supposedly "squealing" in his NFL interview regarding his eligibility and how he most likely would have been suspended more than 5 games. If you are sitting in front of Roger Goodell and your livelyhood for the next 12 months is on the line, you tell the truth, even if it throws your former teammates under the bus.

The second post you quoted is from awhile ago and was talking about the appeal process of his NFL suspension. They were about two totally different topics.

Well, since I own the company that is a moot point.

Again, the point is that they aren't supposed to take an envelope with cash. They know this. They take it they suffer the consequences. I'm not going to make excuses because they happen to play for my school.

Ohio State booster takes blame
An Ohio State booster has accepted responsibility for the payments three Buckeyes players received at a charity event earlier this year.

Robert "Bobby" DiGeronimo told The Columbus Dispatch that he played a key role in the $200 payments given to Jordan Hall, Travis Howard and Corey Brown. The payments took place at a Feb. 19 fundraiser for a charity run by DiGeronimo's son-in-law.

Hall, Howard and Brown were suspended for Ohio State's first two games before being reinstated Tuesday by the NCAA. They are eligible to play Saturday against Miami.

DiGeronimo told The Dispatch that former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor provided the money to his teammates, adding that the payments were reimbursement for travel expenses to the event.

"However Mr. Pryor got the money, I take responsibility," DiGeronimo told the newspaper. "I am responsible for those kids coming up here from Columbus. I handled it wrong. I should not have handled it the way I did."

DiGeronimo, who cooperated with the NCAA during its investigation, said no one from the charity organization knew about the payments. Two other Ohio State players who attended the event said they didn't receive payments.
WHY CAN'T EVERYBODY JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP?!?!?!?!

I read DiGeronimo coming forward as the good, stand-up thing to do. The kids were already suspended. DiG. stepped in and stop-gapped the investigation. His function. Done. End of investigation. By the accounts I've read, he's not a bad, rogue booster... he's a dude who lost a (grand?)son, created a foundation years ago, it has events, some buckeye kids show up to it. They walked away with cash, he's stepped in to take the blame in a situation where the NCAA already knew it happened... good for him.

Oh, I have no desire for you to make such excuses, just that you (and so many others) cut our players a bit more slack. This business about "how hard can it be?" is reasonable enough, but those of us in business are aware of how hard it is to get people to do the right thing - even if those people have little incentive to do the wrong thing (my dishes-in-the-sink example).

Max, I understand your position and I strive to be a tolerant person. Unfortunately, after what went down last December and afterwards I just don't see that there is slack to be cut for players right now. They have to toe the line and abide by every rule and honestly I'm shocked that this happened. Perhaps it is this that is driving my current feelings on the situation.

Well, certainly this is consistent with the NCAA's viewpoint - they're zero-tolerance when it comes to amateurism.

Though they seem really not to give a [Mark May] when it comes to pandering prostitution, rape, spousal abuse and other violent felonies.
