Iona +13.5 vs tOSU at Dayton (ov/un 145.5) Fri 7:15 pm CBS

He's acting as if Iona's fans on their forum aren't saying silly shit like how they aren't impressed after watching the Wisconsin game or how they are going to guard Craft from baseline to baseline.

That's why his statement is rather applicable to Iona and their fanbase. In fact, his little rant would fit really well with their board. This place is no where near the stuff they are spewing over there. So, NastiNattiBuck sees that here, I will give him what he is looking for...

Iona is no different than the Fredos and Boobcats of the world. They get lucky enough to play Ohio State even though they are in no way deserving and then shoot off their mouths like they have a real team when everyone in the country knows they are a joke. Then, after licking their wounds after yet another ass whooping, they slink back to the their little hidey holes until they once again are lucky enough to face a real team instead of another glorified, overpriced community college in their supposed D1 conference.

There you go NastiNatti. NOW you have something to complain about.

Excited for the tournament to get under way and excited about the Iona matchup. I think the Buckeyes will be too much for Iona to handle, but, you never know. When Mid-Majors get hot and start draining buckets things get crazy, that is why the tournament is so great.

As for the game, I think Momo will have a rude awakening when Craft is on him. The fastest player laterally I have ever seen. Craft has shut down some of the countries best PGs over the past couple of years; mainly Trey Burke. I just don't see someone who has not seen that level of competition over the past couple of season handling that well. Craft is a total pest. In terms of gaurding Craft, Craft is not a run up and down the floor type of guy. He is a guy who makes his money on offense in the half court sets. I still don't believe my eyes a lot of times when he gets in the lane.. but the dude finds a way.

I think OSU's speed to athletism alone will be enough for the Bucks to handle this game. With that said, I will never underestimate a Mid-Major and what they can do in the Tourny. I went to Ohio U and certainly know what you Iona fans are thinking/feeling right now. I knew going into the tourny last year that the Bobcats were going to take it to that team up north in the first round. 2 years before that I was confident, if the Bobcats got hot, they could handle Georgetown. Both of things happened.

Here's to a good game, the best weekend of the year and hopefully a deep tournament run (for either team)

Thanks for dropping by.

2 things:
-Momo will not be at the point for much of the game, so your coach will have some decisions to make about coverage of our 4 very different guards
-Momo played in the PAC 10 and took his team to the Elite Eight--I imagine he faced some pretty good guards there

as well as against Maryland (W), Wake Forest (W), Georgia (W), and Purdue (L).

Expect Craft on the best offensive player on Iona for much of the game. In the past 8 games, while Ohio State has been on a roll, Matta has moved to a 2 gaurd set for most of the game. Shannon Scott will be playing the 1 for much of the game with Craft playing the 2.

If you look back at the Indiana games, Craft was on Victor Oladipo for much of those games (Victor at 6'5 and Craft at like 6'1).

Obviously Craft will lineup against the 1 on defense, but, I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Craft on Momo for most of the game given their size and Momo's offensive ability.

The funny thing about Craft is that he always, or at least Buckeye fans, always get the 'Our guy is faster. Our guy has seen ust as good players defensively, etc.' Then they play Craft. Craft not only has shut down some of the PGs out there over the past 3 years, but, he shuts them down every time. It doesnt matter who it is. Trey Burke, Keith Appling, Seth Curry (held to 4 pts at Cameron), all 3 florida guards in 2011 (Boynton, Beal, etc), Scoop Jardine held to 5/12 shooting, the list could go on. Teams seriously struggle to bring across half court with Craft on them.

Craft is a one man wrecking crew on D and you're best to get the ball in someone's hands whom craft is not guarding.

Wow. Ohio State is awesome. Maybe we should just forfeit.

These guys are like the domers with some scUM-type arrogance thrown in (and maybe some pedster cultist-ish-ness with the site admin showing his arse too)....I hope we annihilate them by 30.

LOL... the Iona board members are screwing with you guys. I am surprised that many of you have such thin skin, especially playing for years in the shadows of schools like Michigan and Notre Dame. :tongue2:

Some of of the Iona folks found it funny that , in one of the forums, the OSU fans were trying to compare the lists of notable alumni. We certainly have not been around long enough to produce the numbers of graduates to compete with such an illustrious list of alumni as OSU's.... but we hope to someday lift ourselves to the level to produce the likes of Jeffrey Dahmer, Dr. James Howard Snook or Michael Nodianos.

We are looking forward to the game against your squad. I like your team and I think they are a very good squad. The Craft vs MoMo battle will be fun to watch but the game will be decided by Iona's ability/inability to hit the three and contain Thomas.

Good luck to you guys. Lets hope for a good game, A game that both teams play their best, is injury free and the refs do not blow any calls that impact the outcome. Be safe and enjoy!!!

It's not a thin skin. It's one of your posters here claiming Iona is not getting enough love and one of our own getting on his high horse over nothing. I'm messing with them.

and don't worry about that alumni thing. Maybe someday your school will be a university too and not just a college.

Anyway, good luck.

Lot of talkers on Iona.
?To me, it?s not an upset, it?s a game we should win, it?s a game we?re capable of winning,? shooting guard Sean Armand of Brooklyn told The Post after practice yesterday at the Hynes Athletic Center. ?To the rest of the world, it?s going to be an upset, a 15 beating a 2, but if we win this game, we?re doing what we?re supposed to do.?

Asked to predict the outcome, Armand said, ?I?m planning to play on Sunday. That?s all I?m going to say.?

?We played against great teams, we played against big conferences and we?ve won,
That's news to me they played Rutgers, Wake Forest, and Georgia. I'm struggling to see which one of those teams is great.

The admin over there, Guy is totally screwing with you guys that have registered over there. Not sure why you would even waste your time joining that forum. He understands what Iona is up against, but is just having fun at the OSU fans that are posting over there.

"Friggin' love it. Anyone out here who has ever played or coached a sport, this is the mentality you have to have. You expect to win. Period. I told my 8-year-old football players this year that I don't care if the New York Giants are on the field against them, you bring it without any fear. You do the best that you can possibly do, and if it's not enough, you tip your hat to the victor and move on.

I won't go so far as to say I expect to beat Ohio State. I'm sure most of you realized my posts the past couple days were an attempt to rile up our visitors and the OSU fans--and it worked, LOL. I won't be disappointed if we lose, unless we get blown out. I know most of you feel we're due for an NCAA break, yada yada yada, but the fact remains that we're a 13.5-point underdog against one of the top 10 teams in the country, and the basketball gods don't care that we've lost a slew of close tourney games in our history.

I just want our guys to bring it. If they do that, they're going to have a chance. Period."

Don't want Iowa St, hate teams that just jack up 3s[/QUO

Speaking of teams that jack up the 3"? That sure is something that Ohio State did not do against Wisconsin in the BTT. We went1 for 12 attemps in trying to shoot the 3's against Bucky and i feel we are gonna need to rely on the 3 point game against Iona. We are now entering into the area of the unknowns of competiton. We had to fight for everything we got in the games of the BIg and it was a great effort. We knew what to expect from every game we played in the BIG Ten conference. Now its a different story. I hope for a great game from Iona to keep us up on our toes. It seems to ge getting harder every year when the #1 and 2 seeds have to go up against the 14 and 15 seeds.

Well, the little dog just yaps at the big dog, and the big dog should just roll over and go back to sleep. Iona vs OSU. But in the Big Dance, this is where the little dog can smite the big dog unto death. A pedigree of alums won't score any buckets on the court, regardless of who they are.

If Iona is a quick small team, and OSU is a big tall team, then Iona would be advised to shoot over OSU. When OSU has the ball, pound it inside, and get their littler guys into foul trouble, and pound it some more. Doesn't sound like Rocket Science 101 to me. OSU will try to match up their strengths against Iona's weaknesses, and vice versa. And so it shall be.

Every dog does it's 'woofin' before the battle, and we'll see what happens when the smoke clears. Not sure what the Vegas money says, but they tend to look through green tinted glasses, not scarlet-tinted ones (like I do).
