Indinia Hoosiers (occifail therad of dyslexia)

His biggest coaching job this year is going to be in protecting/rebuilding their psyche when a better IU team gets their doors blown off in Bloomington. I’m not minimizing the Hoosiers here; I think there’s a good chance this is the Buckeyes’ best opponent in the regular season. But I believe the Buckeyes, from Day down to the trainers, will all be on point for this one and the massive talent disparity will be on full display

The Indiana team doesn't have that talent level that the Buckeyes have; but they do have "experience" as they return 19 starters. Indiana won't be in "awe" of Ohio State, the Buckeyes need to set the tone by playing "smash mouth football" from the get go and not let Michael Penix get any confidence with quick easy scores.

I think the problem OSU had last year is that they took their feet off the peddle and let IU and Penix keep fighting back into the game. Not to mention us finding out how out of position Wade was on the outside. We set the tone and played smash mouth last year. We need to keep smashing them all 4 quarters this year and take Fryfogle out of the game. Talent for talent it's not close, but Day needs to keep them hungry even if we lead big going into the half and even the 4th.

We need to figure out how to cover that short yardage pick play that Indiana receivers were running all game.

I'm sure Barnes has them watching plenty of film on how Penix carved them up last year. I think they played to not allow big plays behind them instead of staying aggresive

You're probably right, but a couple of those touchdown passes were short yardage where they had 2 receivers blocking the cornerbacks via "legal pick" patterns. I hope they weren't worried about the big play there. Then there was a couple of long passing plays - at least 1 went for a touchdown.

Bottom line is that I agree with whoever said not to take our foot off the gas pedal. Remind them why the Big Ten agreed to send Ohio State to the conference championship game instead of Indiana.

They have to play @ Iowa the first game of the year, Cincinnati and @ Ped State before they play us.

Its far from a "given" that they are undefeated going into our game.

I'd bet good money they have at least 1 loss.
1 week into the season and you're fuckin' Nostradomus. Good call. I thought they'd at least get to Penn State before reverting to form.

Just watched the Iowa game on BTN and man, was Penix bad. Two pick-6s, as we all saw on highlights. But he threw a third one later in the first half to give Iowa a FG, he had a fourth one bailed out on a roughing the passer call, and Iowa dropped at least 3 others.

He finished 14 for 31 for 156 yards, and the 3 picks had 85 yards in returns for the 2 scores. And he had -7 yards on his ‘rushing’ attempts. Sure hope he’s half that bad when the Bucks head to Bloomington.
