Indians Tidbits (2010 season)

oh [censored] no, that wasn't a mistake...he was out by like 2 steps on a solid liner. Even Cecil Fielder could have beaten that out.
To be a little fair to Redmond, Manning had stated in his previous at-bat that all major league teams played Redmond in very close because he tries to slap the ball to right field. There probably are more catchers in the major leagues that would have been thrown out also on a similar play. Think of Garko:lol: and he played first base. Fielder and Garko would be one hell of a race.

That's a boy Jake. You tell them that you want out of there along with the other cronies mentioned.

Pitcher Jake Westbrook seems to be open to re-signing with the Cleveland Indians. But with scouts inundating Progressive Field, it wouldn't be surprising if he followed Russell Branyan - traded Saturday - out the door.

Westbrook stoked the fires a little after he beat Toronto this week, responding to a question by saying, "I like winning baseball." The Indians, with the second-worst record in the American League (31-47), seem unlikely to fit that profile for a while.

The nonwaiver trade deadline is July 31, and all Tribe players who are eligible for free agency at the end of the season - Austin Kearns, Jhonny Peralta, Kerry Wood and Mike Redmond - probably are available.

LaPorta (I'm removing the "LaBusta" monicker) with the walkoff Rbi single in the 10th! :banger: He's hitting really well since finally being inserted into the lineup fulltime. I'll be more than happy to eat crow on what I've said about him if he keeps this up. They really need him to become a big piece of this lineup moving forward and he's taking advantage of the opportunity. Keep proving us wrong Matt...

FIFY

Awesome win tonight, they are actually looking like a baseball team of late...hopefully Choo isn't hurt too bad. WTF happened to the bullpen all of a sudden? Tossing around zeros like raindrops.

:pissed: They said during the game last night that Brantley was pulled after
one bat at Columbus last night so they knew something was up but this is just terrible

RF Shin-Soo Choo likely will miss 6-8 weeks because of a right-thumb injury. Full story ?

Also, talking about eating crow I am just do not sure about him. I don't have the same confidence in him as I do Grady when he catches the ball and I wish he could hit for a better average. He would do as a backup but I don't particularly like him as a regular starter but who else...

Carmona to represent the Tribe at the all star game:

The American League is really lowering their standards but they have to take someone from the Indians and since Choo got injured I guess they were almost forced to take Carmona. That really is sad when he is our best player out of 25 guys.

Also, in an article on www.mlb.com Strasburg did not make the NL roster and I think the majority of fans would like to see him pitch but whoever said that the major league baseball cared about the fans.

Choo's overall numbers are hardly all-star worthy either. Nobody from this team deserves to be there.

assuming, and this is a big assumption, that everyone is healthy, a lineup of sizemore, cabrera, choo, santana, hafner, laporta is actually a respectable 1-6, if sizemore can return to a semblence of his 2007 form.

the starting rotation has shown glimpses of being respectable, but they at worst need another MOR starter. once deadwood is gone after this year, they will need another respectable pen arm as well. the entire bullpen is erratic, even though raffy perez has been coming around.

Pluto writes that a few teams have inquired about Jake Westbrook, but that "it has to be a compelling trade" for the Indians to move him. They aren't just looking for salary relief.

:2004: jesus, what is so "compelling" about 5-4 with a 4.59 ERA and 1.43 WHIP that it requires a "compelling trade" to get rid of the guy

all he does is eat up salary..... dump it if someone wants him, morons
