Indians Tidbits (2010 season)

For the second straight night, the starter (Talbot, this time) is left in waaaaaay too long to get smacked all over the park...5.2 IP, 13 H, 8 R, 8 ER. This is what happens when your genius GM cannot manage to put together even an average bullpen for the 3rd consecutive year. This year's gaggle of losers is probably the worst yet. Bravo Mr. Shapiro, bravo.

 it was only a matter of time before Talbot was figured out

but 13 hits? dear god, Sowers laughs at that

in his defense, or lack thereof, both kearns and duncan made beyond horrid plays in the outfield that should have been easy outs, but were ruled hits. it's akin to valbuena not covering 1st on a bunt yesterday, a hit by rule, but in reality an error.

that being said, when the only pen guy you have faith in is some kid that you tripped over by accident and just called up from AAA a few weeks ago, that's not inspiring.

however, to be fair, chris perez hasn't been that bad, and tony sipp was absolutely lights out until the biggest cliff fall i've seen. that's not shapiro's fault. now, signing kerry wood, and cast off scrubs like jamey wright on the other hand...

I actually feel bad for Manny Acta. First he gets stuck with the Nationals, then this gaggle of losers. Has any manager ever been saddled with so little talent in back to back jobs?

its true, there isnt much he can do

he could pull the starters early

but that means hed have to put in the likes of "gas can" Lewis or Raffy Perez to eat a couple of innings, which may end up a worse result than leaving the starter in

i love how austin kearns, while playing center field, down by a run, in the 8th inning, with 2 outs and nobody on base, is playing 370 feet deep for a guy that couldn't hit it that far if he was standing on 2nd base. of course, the guy bloops one in and scores on a hit by the next batter.

jason donald looked at him like he was a retard.

this team bleeds runs from pure stupidity like this far too much.

but at least Branyan is back to form.

i will say that next year, if sizemore is anywhere close to back to form, with cabrera, choo, santana, and possibly 2007 hafner, this team may actually score enough runs to contend in games until the bullpen comes in. chris perez and frank herrmann are the only two worth a damn in that pen. the rest can try to walk to canada via lake erie for all i care. unfortunately, there isn't much in the minors in the bullpen unless they make alex white or hagadon pen arms.

so, it looks like cleveland will be poaching the bullpen scrap heap and hoping that they can get tony sipp back from crazy land.

Beat the Pirates. Huzzah.

I'm heading to round two tonight. The excitement in the air in Pittsburgh is going to be amazing for this clash of the titans. But, I have tickets, so I'm going.

Interesting tidbit: The Indians are now 12-14 versus the Pirates, even though the Pirates have had losing seasons every year since inter league play began.

Even if the Tribe win today, they're still going to be looking up at the Bucs, all time, for at least another year. :wink2:
