Indians Tidbits (2010 season)

Trevor Crowe homers...8-2. I guess I should hang out on BP and berate them everygame.

What's that you say? They're playing the Orioles? Oh. :so:

 Crowe's played in 1 game this year and has more HRs than Sizemore and Labusta (same amount of RBIs as LaBusta as well)

how sad is this

Westbrook tosses a CG allowing just one run for the win. The offense continues on with last night's momentum and they pull off a 5-1 win. If they can beat up on some of these weaker teams during this stretch, they could be sniffing .500...which I'd be thrilled with. Then again, they'r just as likely to go in the tank, so who the hell knows.

I still find it funny that two guys plucked from obscurity (Kearns/Grudzielanek) are the two most consistent hitters on the team thus far.

Time for the apefucking by Tampa Bay...this should be fun

After that though, they might be able to keep a semblance of momentum going and get somewhere 2-4 below .500 if things bounce right...

trade-off three of those guys now while they still have value:( Oh, I guess they tried that last year and the year before and the guys are not living up to their minor league numbers. That's always the case with the Indians. Once their young stuff hits the major leagues they tank:!

Tribe's Cabrera taken off after collision | indians.com: News

ST. PETERSBURG -- Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera left Monday night's game against the Rays in the bottom of the first inning with an injury to his right arm.

The Indians had an infield shift on, and Cabrera collided with third baseman Jhonny Peralta behind the second-base bag while in pursuit of a Hank Blalock grounder. He was tended to by the Tribe's athletic training staff, then taken off the field on a cart, with his arm wrapped.

Cabrera recently returned to the lineup after missing several days with left quadriceps soreness. He is batting .287 with a homer and seven RBIs in 33 games this season.

Luis Valbuena replaced Cabrera at shortstop.

That's not true. Many of the guys behind the runs in '05 and '07 were acquired by trading off vets. I'd also say it's way too early to write off the guys acquired for C.C. (who hasn't been that great thus far in '10), Lee (who can't stay healthy) and V-Mart (who isn't exactly tearing it up in Beantown). I have my doubts about LaPorta from what I've seen, but Brantley is still plenty young and has potential. Donald may get a shot sooner rather than later. The haul from the Lee trade won't have a chance to be fully realized for another couple years (Knapp was the prize) and Carrasco has been solid in C-Bus thus far. Victor brought a middle reliever currently being wasted as a starter, but the prize was Hagadone who is a year or two away. Given the rate Victor's production is falling off, that trade may not be nearly as bad as many of the naysayers predicted. Also, lets not forget that the crown jewel of the farm system (Santana) was acquired for a veteran.

Now, on to the current Indians, Pronk has been much less awful lately, so that's nice. I don't expect Crowe to continue to tear it up like he has these first couple games, but if he can develop into a nice 4th OF/occasional starter, it would be a huge plus. Carmona is looking good again so far, tonight. Hopefully Laffey (who is excelling in middle relief like most of called for last year) holds them.

I suspect Crowe will be more effective than Sizemore at this point

even if Crowe dips down into the .250s-.260s.......still better than what Sizemore has shown this year

Apparently Sizemore has a banged up knee. I don't know if it's a recent thing like this article seems to allude to, or if it's been bothering him for a while, but it would help explain his anemic offensive output. I find it hard to fathom that a player with that much talent turns into Alvaro Espinoza this quickly...

Whiff, whiff, whiff, whiff, whiff...

Uh oh, Crawford doubles...this is bringing back ugly memories...:so:

How does C. perez have a 2.31 ERA? I would have guessed it was up around 6.00...
