Indians Tidbits (2009 season)

Yeah baby, the days of the Swindell/Candiotti/Farrell/Bailes combination really evokes the memories. Throw in Doug Jones, who couldn't break glass with his fastball, and Ernie Macho Camacho to "close" games, and it was one hell of a time. Gotta love leading your team in victories with, uh, 7

So who was a better 5th starter...Akerfelds, Schultze, or Yett? :slappy:

Rod Nichols. :banger:

Yeah, I've made that comparison before...particularly the '87 team. Sometimes I long for the days of Tom Candiotti, Ken Schrom, Phil Neikro, Scott Bailes, etc., etc., etc...

not pitching related, but

I think you were right about needing to find Chris Bando as well

im sure he wouldnt strike out as much as Shoppach

cleveland bullpen blows up again.

just like last night, eric "simple jack" wedge hangs a guy out to dry. jensen lewis throws a ton of pitches in 2 innings of relief and is effective, so, wedge leaves him out there for a 3rd inning and doesn't get anyone warmed up, and sure enough lewis walked some guys then got shelled.

wedge clearly has no idea how to manage a bullpen. the only year they were remotely good was in '07, when every starter was going 7+, so wedge couldn't even fuck up going with the raffy's then the closer.

this guy is a back alley horse abortion of a manager and if somebody took a sodering iron to his dick, it wouldn't upset me.

this is just painful to watch

the sad thing is the rest of the division is so shitty that nobody looks like they can pull away so its going to create the illusion that we are still in it most of the season, which I have a feeling will allow Wedge to keep his job

yep. the "we only finished 8 games back because we had a good month of august when it didn't matter and half the team was on the DL" card will be played all day.

but the bottom line is that cleveland has performed below its pythagorean score every single season under wedge except for 2007. that's a trend. couple that with continually having various units and players being massively inconsistent each season and it's clear to see what the problem is.

please fire wedge by the end of this week.

Like bm11 said, it's all an illusion at this point. It's over.

Get what we can. Let teams start a bidding war for whatever assets the Tribe have. Still a decent amount of talent to build around for the next couple of seasons.

exactly, but the management is convinced that "our best ball is ahead of us" so there is no telling what they will do or not do

im sure trading Kerry Wood (who is pretty much of no use to this team since they rarely get into save situations) and DeRosa would land a couple of decent players for the future

a perfect example is as follows:

jensen lewis has been used sporadically at best over the last 2 weeks.

for the season, teams are hitting .240 off of him during his first 25 pitches and .316 over his next 25. so what does wedge do with him? make him a long man tonight with nobody warming in the pen until he gave up 2 runs in the 8th.

it's just another example of how wedge just puts guys in a position to fail. was there any doubt that giminez was going to strike out with bases loaded and one out? of course not. put in peralta to hit for him? nope. you know you have francisco on deck, who can't even hit his ballsack with his own dick right now, so, set up the rookie for the perfect failure situation.

was there any doubt that valbuena was going to choke last night? but ryan garko, one of the few guys that's been moderately hot was on the bench, and that's where he stayed.

this team has zero plate discipline as well

11 strikeouts tonight

this team coming into tonight had whiffed 519 times, only 2 teams have struck out more: Arizona (524) and Florida (526)

If Eric Wedge isn't fired soon, I'm flying to Cleveland, breaking into the front office and shitting on Shapiro's desk. Wedge is a fucking baboon and anybody that has half a brain can see that. Hell, we've been saying it here for three years.

Some of you hear more than I do but isn't it rumored that Wedge and Shapiro are pretty close and Shapiro might not pull the trigger on him. Plus, I am wondering who is making all the player decision moves. Is it Shapiro by himself or is he listening to Wedge or what...
