Indians Tidbits (2009 season)

Leadoff walk. Steal. Nice bunt by Jeter.

And this is where the wheels will fall off. 1st and 3rd no out.

Well, Tribe get a generous call at first to finish the DP. Allowed the run, but got 2 outs. And then a ground out for Teixeira. Not too shabby.

I like Steve Phillips, but...

Choo just bunted and got on first because it was a great bunt. Phillips said it was bad baseball having the cleanup guy bunting. He got a single out of it.

Then he goes into more detail by saying that Choo isn't a stolen base threat. The Yankees hold him on, and throw at him two or three times. Then Choo steals second.

Phillips still says that it's bad baseball. Come on, Steve. :shake:

Victor got all of that home run. Joba has been pitching well tonight.. breaking ball looks fantastic.

 Yeah, plus Choo was 6 for 6 on steals this year. 7 for 7 now. Not a high number but still, Steve completely dismissed him as a baserunning threat and got burned.

Well credit to Sowers, he's looked very solid thus far. Hope the wheels don't come off the wagon like they usually do for him about this time...

Now for some not so great news Re: Grady:

Tribe's Sizemore may need surgery if rest doesn't calm inflamed elbow

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore could need arthroscopic surgery if two more weeks of rest don't calm his inflamed left elbow...

...
Sizemore will be reevaluated when he is eligible to come off the disabled list. If the elbow is still sore, he will then have the surgery, which comes with a scheduled recovery time of four to six weeks.
"Closer to six," Soloff said....continued...

So, if the rest doesn't help, we're looking at him being out probably until late-July, early August. Sheesh...these injuries are killing them.

Someone in the Org needed to catch this earlier. This has happened far too often with Tribe players- trying to play through injuries that are obviously affecting the player's performance. They put them on the DL or rest them when the damage is already done and surgery is needed. I understand these are competitors, but someone has to have some accountability.

Also, Shoppach, you p.o.s., you should have just struck out.

First 2 batters on, Kelly pops up a bunt- doubled up at second. Then a caught stealing ends the "threat." Fuck.

Also, nice jinx NF!

3 straight walks to start the inning.
No jinx necessary. It's a proven fact that Sowers can't get anybody out after 5 innings...if the Tribe insists on hanging on to him, his future should be in middle relief.

Aquino gets out of the jam...NICE.

Hell of a job by Aquino. With Sowers background, Wedge should have had someone warming up after the 1st walk of the inning.

With Sowers' background, he shouldn't even head out to the mound for a sixth inning.

Starting to rain a little...

Ugh, three more walks this inning (that's 8 tonight for those keeping count), bases loaded, 1 out...

Shit-ton of birds in the OF...birds, midges...what's the difference.
