Indians Tidbits (2009 season)

Always good to see the Yankees lose. Pavano continues to amaze me. Never thought I'd say this, but thank God for him...imagine the shape they'd be in if he was pitching horribly.

Glad to see Grady go on the DL...hopefully he heals up and can come back strong. Pronk is looking pretty good in C-bus, any timetable on his return?

Shoppach makes me want ot punch babies. 39 whiffs in 90 at bats? That's 43% of the time he goes to the plate, he strikes out. Are you fucking kidding me? Sanatana is playing very well in Akron, hopefully he punches a ticket to C-bus soon and with a little luck, is ready to contribute in September.

The injury plagued Indians season continues and the bus from Columbus keeps on rolling. If this continues, every pitcher in the Cleveland organization will see the major league team by the end of the season.

Betancourt on disabled list; Sipp promoted as Cleveland Indians continue to lose players

CLEVELAND -- The revolving door keeps spinning with the Indians.

Rafael Betancourt was placed on the disabled list Monday and rookie left-hander Tony Sipp was recalled from Class AAA Columbus for his second tour with the Indians. Betancourt strained his right groin muscle in the eighth inning Sunday during the Indians 5-4 victory over the Yankees at the Progressive Field.

Betancourt was injured throwing a pitch to Mark Teixeira and had to be replaced by Matt Herges. Injuries and ineffectiveness have re-made the Indians bullpen time and time again through the first two months of the season. Betancourt's injury means Jensen Lewis and Kerry Wood are the only relievers who have been in the pen continually since opening day.

:slappy:I hope this is a sarcastic statement It was not.

have you seen the man pitch lately?
Yes, I have. And I saw him pitch earlier in his career. Kid has loads of talent, but it's not being harnessed right now. His pitches move more than anyone else I've seen in the major leagues in the past 5 years.

His sinker is flat out nasty when he can hit his spots. Problem is, he's lost the ability to do that. It can be found again, but I think he needs time in the minors to do that. Unfortunately, we're too thin to do that right now. I remember somebody (I think it was Torii Hunter) saying it was like being drunk trying to bat against him early last season.

Marte actually stayed on the roster a majority of his time though. Sowers is going to end up having a rest stop named after him on the Ohio Turnpike.
No wonder he runs out of gas after about 4-5 innings. He needs to take I-71 to Cleveland not the Turnpike. That would be like a 10 hour bus trip to New York :)

the AAA rotation is comedy

they actually signed Ken Ray to fill in a spot, Ken Ray is 35 years old, has been in the minor leagues since 1993 and pitched a grand total of 79 MLB innings to 1,100 minor league innings

since the indians called up giminezs to catch maybe the clippers can get Crash Davis to fill his spot and catch for Ray.
