Indians Tidbits (2009 season)

Wedge's days are likely over this year but unless the Tribe finds some pitching the ghost of Casey Stengel won't win with this bunch.

Kerry Wood, right on cue.

2/3 inning, 3 hits (2 home runs), 1 walk, 4 runs, good bye ball game.:shake:

There has to be a laid-off Chrysler employee out there that we could pay 7.50/hr to manage this team better, right???

He handed his closer a 3 run lead in the 9th. Every manager in the league would've done the same thing. Wedge has his faults but some of this lies at the feet of the players. Tonight was one of those times.

Agreed. I just hate to miss a chance to take a swipe.

This team is dysfunctional and that starts at the top. There's no reason for fans to believe in the bullpen. And there's no reason for the bullpen to believe in itself.

For me the worst part of the whole debacle was the fact that he walked Miguel Olivo. Coming into the game Olivo had 0 walks, 16 K's and a .132 average against righthanders. Wood looked nasty at the beginning of the year but now it's looking like he's been infected with whatever's going around the Tribe bullpen.

Could this be the worst bullpen in MLB history?

Name one that was worse.

I can't name one that has done this bad when it comes to holding on to leads, and I'm not even talking save opportunities. I mean giving up 7-0 leads like they did on Friday night.

I ran the numbers for this year so far, and the Tribe bullpen is 28th out of 30 when it comes to ERA, with a record of 4-9, 7 saves, 44% save percentage The Nationals are 30th, with a 6.68 ERA and a 1-14 record, and 6 saves, 32% save percentage.

You can rank them by category from first to last on this site.

MLB Baseball Team Statistics - Major League Baseball - ESPN

I haven't seen much of the Nationals this year, but those stats are pretty awful. I remember a few weeks ago seeing a story about them blowing up their entire bullpen.

But I know what you are saying--this is less about stats and more about the way this Tribe bullpen manages to keep blowing these games. That puts them up there with the worst I've ever seen.

:slappy: im gone for the past 2 days, come home today and look at the box score and see this

Bot 9th: Kansas City - M. Jacobs homered to deep right center
- M. Teahen homered to deep left
- D. DeJesus tripled to deep right center, M. Maier scored
- W. Bloomquist hit sacrifice fly to right, D. DeJesus scored

this team really fucking sucks

Another typical (read: bad) Carmona outing and Grady continues to suck balls (BA down to .211 now). :shake:

Down 4-2 and they haven't even got to the pigeon coop yet.

the fact that carmona still has no consistent command of any of his pitches is ridiculous. he still doesn't have an out pitch that he can throw for a strike to keep hitters honest either. his lack of development is truely sad because he has great stuff.
