I know from an outrageously great source... that if Boston included Bowden or Reddick (not sure what my source said.. thought he said Bowden)... this deal was done... and he relayed this to me yesterday... impeccable source...buckeyemania11;1506040; said:Rob Bradford at WEEI is reporting that the Red Sox are close to a deal that would net Cliff Lee from the Indians for Michael Bowden, Josh Reddick and another prospect. Stay tuned.
Shapiro is a [censored]ing idiot if he pulls the trigger on this trade IMO and should be fired ASAP if it goes down
that is a [censored] poor haul for a pitcher of Lee's caliber

Sounds like there's a chance this thing could get done today.
Phillies seem like the most likely destination but the Dodgers may make a late push.
The reported trade offer looks to be: Cliff Lee and possibly another player for Class A right-hander Jason Knapp, Class AAA right-hander Carlos Carrasco, shortstop Jason Donald and catcher Lou Marson.
Not sure how to feel about this one, would have liked to see Michael Taylor, Dominic Brown, or Kyle Drabek somewhere in the deal but each of those 4 guys looks to have huge potential despite their stats in the minors at the moment.

Carrasco is their 2nd best prospect (coming into the season) per baseball america, Donald 3rd and Marson 4th. You can't ask for much better than that. All three of them are potential everyday players...well, Carrasco every 5th day obviously.
Downside is that Carrasco still needs some development and we know how the Tribe does "developing" pitchers.

Also, you have to factor in that the Tribe has young players at the positions played by Donald & Marson. I've heard that Knapp had some shoulder fatigue which makes me leary of building a package around him. As of now, the Phillies top 3 prospects are Brown, Taylor & Drabek (Knapp - 4th). No way they should be able to get a #1 pitcher on a reasonable contract without giving up any of their top prospects. The Tribe shouldn't have to trade Lee this year so I say if this is the best they can come up with then you walk away. Keep Lee and take a shot at contending next year. If it falls apart then you deal him at next year's deadline for a package that will probably be in the same ballpark as this one.
There is 0% chance of that happening. They are struggling financially and major upgrades are needed in both the rotation and bullpen...which they can't afford to make.itownbuckeye;1506529; said:I think this would be a terrible trade.
