After bullpen blows save, Peralta's 2-run double in 10th saves the night for Tribe, 6-4

Matt A. Brown/Associated PressCliff Lee scattered six hits over 7 1/3 innings Friday night, allowing just one run. But the Dodgers rallied in the eighth and ninth to tie the game and deny Lee a victory.
Los Angeles -- The Indians went from victory to defeat to victory on a sweltering Friday night at Dodger Stadium. After the bullpen turned Cliff Lee's 11th victory into mush with two terrible innings, Jhonny Peralta, criticized all season for his inability to hit in the clutch, doubled home two runs with two out in the 10th off closer Takashi Saito for a 6-4 victory over Los Angeles.

David Zalubowski/Associated PressJamey Carroll reflected the Indians' frustration after another fruitless at-bat during the team's three losses in Denver this week. While players insist their chance to contend is not at an end, they concede they're still searching for ways to turn around the season.
Los Angeles -- Ryan Garko grew up going to Anaheim Stadium to see the Angels play. He was an American League kid. On one of the few occasions he visited Dodger Stadium, it was for a high school scholastic achievement award.
"I was there with my brother and about 100 other kids," said Garko. "They wouldn't let us stand on the grass. We were on the warning track, and there was a rope keeping us off the grass. Every time someone stepped on the grass, this guy would yell at us."
The Indians find themselves in a similar position. They're roped off from playing good baseball by the opposition, injuries and their own inadequacies. Every time they attempt to play good ball, it seems they run into another injury or another three-game sweep like that one the Rockies handed them before they arrived in Southern California.

LOS ANGELES -- The C.C. Sabathia showcase tour made its National League stop in Dodger Stadium on a hot afternoon yesterday.
He did not disappoint the suitors who gathered in the 95-degree heat along with 45,036 fans. Sabathia struck out 10 in seven innings and had the longest hit of the day -- a 440-foot homer into the back of the Indians' bullpen down the right-field line.
But in the end, what mattered more were the six singles that fueled the Indians' six-run 11th inning for a 7-2 victory over the Dodgers.
It was the Tribe's second straight extra-inning win over Los Angeles after starting this interleague trip by being swept by the Colorado Rockies in a three-game series. The big hit in yesterday's 11th inning belonged to Jhonny Peralta, whose RBI single scored Jamey Carroll from second base.

Los Angeles -- Sal Fasano has spent his entire career bouncing between the minors and big leagues. His latest bounce came Thursday when the Indians acquired him from Class AAA Richmond.
Jamey Carroll soaks in the congratulations of his teammates after scoring the tiebreaking run in the 11th inning Saturday against Los Angeles. Carroll, who opened the inning with a single, scored on Jhonny Peralta's RBI single to left."You never get tired of getting called up," said Fasano, 36. "It's the best place in the world to play baseball."
Fasano made his first start Saturday, going nine innings before being replaced by pinch-hitter Kelly Shoppach. It was 95 degrees at Dodger Stadium, but it's better to sweat in the big leagues than the International League.
"It figures they'd throw the two biggest guys out there on a day like today," said Fasano with a laugh. That would be Fasano and C.C. Sabathia.
Sabathia did just fine in the Tribe's 7-2 victory in 11 innings. He allowed one run in seven innings and hit a 440-foot homer for the Indians' only run before they scored six in the 11th.
"It's great to catch a guy at the top of his game," said Fasano. "It's like a little kid getting a Christmas present. C.C. made it easy."
