Indians Tidbits (2007 Season)

Seriously, does Borowski get fined if he has a 1-2-3 inning?

I think he just likes to be out there longer. 1-2-3, he's off camera within 10 minutes. This way he has more TV time. :shake:

Seriously though, remember when Jose Mesa was known as Senior Slam? Back in '95 even some '96. Since then we have not had a shut down closer. Why can't we have one? Why can't we even develop one? Assuming we do go to the playoffs, can we trust this asshole for those type of games when we can't even trust him with 2-3 run leads? I see a lot of Pepto in our future.

Hafner's big night lifts Cleveland past Minnesota

Wednesday, September 5, 2007 12:17 AM

Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS?Travis Hafner hit two home runs and the go-ahead sacrifice fly in the 11th inning, leading the Cleveland Indians past the Minnesota Twins 7-5 last night.
Franklin Gutierrez led off the inning with a walk from Julio DePaula (0-1). After a sacrifice bunt by Casey Blake and an intentional walk to Grady Sizemore, Asdrubal Cabrera hit an infield single off the glove of a diving Alexi Casilla to load the bases.
Hafner then hit a ball almost to the warning track in center field for the go-ahead run, and Victor Martinez added a run-scoring ground-rule double to make it 7-5.

Blowkoski makes me wince every time he takes the mound, for sure...

However, I hate to bring up bad memories, but where exactly did trusting Mesa get anyone?

I'm just hoping run production stays on the upswing so we don't have to rely on a closer so much.

Well.... I seem to remember Jose Mesa choking up one particular lead in '97 or so... in October maybe?

I believe Omar Vizquel made a bit of snide commentary on that one in his book.

Well... the guy is a roller coaster... but... its September now... and he's what we've got.... so... yeah... pass the pepto.

Edit: Sorry Peaches, skipped right past your Jose Mesa knock... but... what the hell... he deserves it. Cocksucker. :)
