The Indians acquired Kenny Lofton form the Rangers for Single A catcher Max Ramirez.

Woo hoo! Now maybe the Browns can bring back Bernie Kosar....

Nah, this is more like Webster Slaughter. But seriously, Lofton has been playing pretty well this year, and he'll be an upgrade over Nixon.

I hope we don't regret this down the road because Ramirez is our top catching prospect in the minors.

They must have another deal coming because they are overloaded with outfielders as it stands now and they better not trade Frankie.

I wonder where Lofton will hit in the lineup. Will they moved greedy down to the number three spot or bat Lofton second or possibly even first.

max ramirez is the single A version of Garko right now. He will not be a catcher in the bigs at this point, barring some major defensive improvements. If there is one spot cleveland is set, it is 1B/DH players. Some folks think Matt McBride has more upside as a catcher anyway.

I would also assume that Cleveland is going to give KC Francisco for Dotel.

Not so fast my friend. According to what I have read Lee's contract says that he can not be sent down to the minors without clearing waivers. We shall see.

Contract aside, WTAM just announced that he has been optioned to the Bison's.
I'll make a prediction....Cliff Lee will never pitch in Cleveland again. This is not based on performance only. He is disliked and impossible to coach. Hell, Wedge said in the post game conference that "Lee's future would be discussed in the next hour"....Wedge knew at that moment he was gone.
He won't be back. They'll dump him in a trade at some point. They won't get anything for him but it'll be the proverbial addition by subtraction

I would think Lofton will probably lead off for us, which might give this team a spark because Grady hasn't been a good lead off guy for us this year like he was last year. He's leading the AL in strikeouts.:(

grady is also 5th in walks and 3rd in stolen bases, which are key components to the leadoff position. striking out to leadoff is far less of a detriment to striking out while batting 3rd and having men on base.

Might as well bring up an extra reliever until that spot in the order comes up again.

Apparently when needed, they will send Mujica back down and bring up Laffey from Buffalo. I still think they should bring back Sowers, unless he is out of options. Sowers has more experience and has proven he can win.

Rumors I have heard today:

- Apparently the Tribe is "on the verge" of either trading for Octavio Dotel from KC or Jason Isringhausen from St. Louis. Have heard both today with people claiming to have "inside sources."

- I have also heard a few people say to not be surprised to see the Indians move Cliff Lee out of Cleveland all together in a trade. His poor pitching as of late has just hastened this as the bigger issue is his shitty attitude and his inability to be coached.

We'll see what happens, should be an interesting next few days.
