Indiana Hoosiers (2025 National Champions)

The best thing I saw

Josh Hoover was bleeding everywhere.

During the second quarter of Indiana's 52-16 win over North Texas, Hoover had his helmet ripped off on a facemask penalty.

When he got up, blood was pouring from his nose. He didn't leave the game.

Three plays later, with blood still covering his face, Hoover threw a touchdown pass to Charlie Becker.

Hoover kept playing and finished his Indiana debut 13-of-16 for 231 yards and four touchdowns.

Three coaches who could really use a do-over

And then there's Sonny Dykes.

TCU got a head start on everyone else by opening the season in Ireland during Week 0.

It lost 15-10 to North Carolina. That's already bad.

It gets a little funnier when you remember how much time Dykes spent this offseason talking about Josh Hoover's interceptions.

Hoover made his Indiana debut Saturday and threw four touchdown passes without turning the ball over.

Just sayin': So far it appears that Cig is still batting 100% on picking QBs out of the transfer portal.

If they lose Turbo Richards for a spell that is bad for them.
Not necessarily devastating.....

Next man up: Beebe had 24 carries, 203 yards, and 1 TD

I'll this one positive thought... With matchups set years out in a lot of cases, how many options did they really have to fill an OOC hole for next season? Granted, they didn't HAVE to drop UMASS, but is this really a major downgrade/upgrade?

You pointed out the problem in your question. They already had UMass - one of the worst FBS programs of all time until this year - scheduled along with fucking Kennesaw State and Jacksonville State. That is an abomination of an OOC slate, forgetting about whether they "need" to schedule better ones or not.

it’s what all the big programs should be doing.

These smaller schools need the money anyhow with less OOC games for the big conferences. You get great experience for back ups, you stay healthier, and I think Indiana is banking on the fact that there’s more risk in losing these games than there’s upside in winning them.

I think they’re right.

We very well could be out of the playoffs if we drop 2 more games even if they’re close and even if they’re to top 10 teams. There’s absolutely a world where we finish 9-3 with 3 losses coming by a total of 3 points yet we are out of the playoffs despite losses to 3 top 10 teams.

It risks a lot. But let’s see how this year ends up.

If the scenario above happens and we miss the playoffs we better cancel those OOC games with UGA etc
