Indiana Hoosiers (2025 National Champions)

I searched “worst Josh Hoover game” and watched last year’s TCU Kansas State game out of spite. Based on the first half of that game as the sample size, Hoover:

Had trash to throw to at TCU.

Is a check down machine, hardly ever throwing it more than ten yards from the line of scrimmage.

When he did go deep, his sideline fades were just as likely to be 5 yards out of bounds as they were to be on target. He had one humorously bad fade to the end zone that hit the ground yards short of where the receiver turned around.

Is good at hitting his wide open first read slant option. If you drop someone under his first read he’s prone to throwing an interception.

Is about as physically imposing as Julian Sayin, take that as negatively as you would like, but he is clearly a notable step down from Mendoza in terms of being a physical running threat.

Hopefully Hoover is a significant step back from Mendoza and results in Indiana crashing back to earth.
