I think he was asked about them, because their journalists were allowed in part of their practice. And in Cig fashion, he has no problem with providing what happened in his own way. Cig doesn't strike me as a guy who cares if he pisses off a star player. I honestly have no problem with it, he let Marsh know that he's not above anyone on the team. I could see someone like Saban doing the same and also providing the same response in a presser. I could see Day ripping into a player, but not giving full context or even much further info to the media. But everyone knows how Cig's personality is, so there should be no surprise that not only did he go off on the player, but he also did it publicly. Sorry, but I don't feel bad for Marsh, he's a professional athlete at this point and wanted to carry himself like he was Michael Irvin and his HC reminded him that he can act like that but he's not Jimmy Johnson, and he doesn't play that on his team

Fernando Mendoza warmed up with his college roommate Wednesday while nearly two dozen college teammates took turns running the 40-yard dash.

Then the Heisman Trophy-winning Indiana quarterback did what he always seems to do: deliver another impressive performance.

All 32 NFL teams sent scouts to Indiana's campus, more than 100 media members were credentialed and dozens of family members and friends of ex-Hoosiers showed up for a pro day unlike any other in school history. Most came to see the guy expected to be the first pick in this month's NFL draft, and Mendoza didn't disappoint, using his platform to potentially help his ex-teammates improve their draft standing.

"I feel like it went great," Mendoza said after throwing the last of his roughly 56 passes inside the John Mellencamp Pavilion. "You know quarterbacks have passed, have done shorter pro days than that. However, I just wanted to make sure everybody could showcase their abilities in front of all 32 NFL teams and really run routes that are applicable to the timing we're going to be running in the NFL."

Mendoza threw short, deep and medium-range passes, targeting receivers to the left, right and over the middle. He also threw on the run.

But Mendoza also said he's far from a finished product.

"I'm putting all of my efforts toward just trying to be the best quarterback possible for the season," he said. "But I know at the next level, there's going to be a lot more snaps under center, and that's a big adjustment. I need to get used to that and just the nature of the game. Not only that, the hash [marks] are more condensed and the speed of the game is faster. So, all those things I look forward to learning."

Also, bit a twat comment from the DC this week.

Ty Simpson (with Caleb Downs) tries to say Indiana doesn’t “do much” as a compliment because they do it so damn well (“They don’t mess up, bro.”)

DC takes it as a slight somehow.





Pretty much what every person watching Indiana thought. They execute at the highest level anyone had seen. Honestly that team was Day’s dream. Be simple but be great at it.

Sorry if I’m still a little triggered at a coach saying they knew “cues” as well. These guys are going to be annoying (and probably keep winning).

ND-USC rivalry renewed; IU nixes series vs. Irish

Notre Dame's reunion with USC, however, also will coincide with the departure of defending national champion Indiana from the Fighting Irish's future schedules, sources told ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.

In 2021, Notre Dame and Indiana announced a home-and-home series with the Hoosiers opening the 2030 season at Notre Dame, the slot USC will now fill. Notre Dame was set to visit Indiana in late September 2031. But both games will not be played, at Indiana's request, a source told Rittenberg. The desire to get USC back on the schedule in early-season slots drove the shuffling, along with Indiana's philosophy toward nonconference scheduling.

Indiana's scheduling approach has avoided Power 4 opponents, as the school in 2023 withdrew from the final two games of a series against Louisville, and then in 2025 canceled a home-and-home series against Virginia. The Hoosiers' College Football Playoff teams in 2024 and 2025 did not play any Power 4 opponents from outside the Big Ten during the regular season.

Notre Dame had been the only major nonleague opponent on Indiana's schedule, which is filled through 2029. Coach Curt Cignetti has said Indiana is focused on its nine Big Ten games per year, and athletic director Scott Dolson has said the school's approach will remain flexible depending on the size and format of the CFP.

Remember when the Big Ten tried to tell its school to play at least one Power 5 (now 4, I'm sure) school per year? How long did that "rule" last?

I’m really beginning to hate this program. Miracle what Cig has done but dodging any nonconference schedule and now this. Irritating.

I have to say, why are we scheduling UGA, Texas, ND, Alabama etc? Indiana isn’t doing that. Oregon isn’t doing that any longer. Penn State hasn’t done that for years. TCUN wasn’t doing that for the longest time either.

I have to say, we can’t afford to lose to Texas knowing we face Oregon and Indiana (let alone all the other teams).

This year vs IU is going to be an absolute war. You have to hope all the tough games we’ll play will better prepare us for that game compared to IU who plays no one until they play us.

I think OSU's schedule gives them an out IF they were to lose to Texas(I don't believe they will). The strong OOC will be beneficial as it will give a safety net that IU's schedule won't provide.

Yeah I’m not sure it helps Ohio State. CFP knows OSU is legit every single year. No need to make it difficult.

I’d understand if you’re a program with doubts like Oregon State since being undefeated in a crap conference isn’t much of an accomplishment.

Not sure I understand why Indiana at 11-1 is better than a 10-2 or (god forbid 9-3) OSU team who had the balls to schedule someone.

Anyway, we typically get payback. So here’s hoping

Give Michigan credit, they scheduled Texas and Oklahoma the last few years.
