Indiana at tOSU, November 21st, Noon on Fox

All fair points on defense. My bigger concern in the big picture is that IU just showed everybody how to seriously disrupt Justin Fields and our offense. They blitzed him all ducking day and he clearly doesn’t respond well to it. He had two of the dumbest throws I’ve ever seen from a Buckeye qb in the face of pressure. That was against 3* IU kids that probably never even got noticed by major programs. Now imagine if it’s a defense stocked with 4 and 5 star kids getting thrown in his face. For 17 games he was used to a pretty clean pocket and not much pressure. Today that showed big time. You can bet every DC on our remaining schedule and potential post season opponents are taking notes.
I’d bet money Day doesn’t call that kind of game against a Clemson or a Bama but hard to know. It’s just annoying to watch Buckeye Nation collectively slit their wrists every time shit happens, especially this year every team is a shit show to varying degrees. Just looking to panic.

I dunno, it's always been a weakness when it comes to the OL and Fields' getting rid of the ball quicker. I just think Indiana is much better at it. It's up to OSU to gameplan and install more packages with bubble/RB screens, slants, and hot routes. If they can't do that...well, I can't imagine they wouldn't be able to do that. So it's about execution and working on it.

It is concerning how shaken he looked through parts of the game. Have to hope he improves because of the experience.

The good news is that defense seems to be an issue with an awful lot of teams this year. So, you know...yay?

Yeah, 2020 just isn't a "normal" year. We're undefeated and will probably be ranked by the CFP Committee in the top 4 this week. We should be favored in the remaining 3 B1G games and are almost a lock for the B1G Conference Championship Game which we should also be favored. I don't think any team this year is unbeatable, including Alabama. Just think how miserable scUM and Ped State fans are this season. I guess we should just be happy with all that.

Fuck it.

They won.

Win The Game, win The B!G. Let the chips fall where they may after that.

If 2020 has taught anyone anything, I'd have hoped it taught people to enjoy the wins and the moment because not a goddamned thing is promised from here.

I'm going to quote this because I want this to be my overarching sentiment rather than what I'm about to say is probably going to come off....

The first thing that strikes me about 2020 is I have mostly watched a couple metric tons of really shittastic football. It seems as though, like today, most of the drama I have seen is driven by ineptitude, back to that Dallas watermelon kick bullshit... I guess that was week two but whatever.

I'm honestly more worried about Fields dumbassery and the general tone of some of the play calling. Whatever the issue with the secondary is, its not getting fixed in a few weeks, it might get a little less leaky and maybe our guys win contested balls more etc. We lost a lot of guys, the coach is new (to the new kids) and you want to see it better than it is....

But.. we should be outscoring motherfuckers with the QB, Coach, and skill position guys we have. I mean, if we need 70, we should be able.to get 70.

But what you cant forget, and sometimes they seem to, (which Meyer rarely.did) that you're Ohio State. Especially today, they're still Indiana. On 4th and 1, they are the motherfuckers that need to get cute. You're the motherfuckers that load up your (say it with me Gus) 6'3" 230 lb QB behind the left guard and punch them in the face. You are the bully. I know they're on scholarship too, but, this should always be part of your identity. They gonna be pesky? Got a couple turnovers. Fine, play bog boy football. And if they can stop it, tip your cap, and hit them again.

It has been an issue his whole time here, but he’s never seen that volume of blitzes...and as a result, he started hearing footsteps and got very rattled resulting in him either trying to do too much or chucking up horrendous throws. If I was an opposing DC right now, I’d watch that IU defensive game plan and copy it to-a-fucking-tee. We still got our yards, but continually shot ourselves in the foot.

It's not panic to look at what worked and what didn't.

Master Teague is a beast. Olave and Wilson are tremendous. Fields can be flustered but he throws a great ball. Wade is damn capable when he stays focused. Borland looked good, not outstanding, but improved. The DL was solid.

The failure of Coombs is glaring.

It's a win but that D will not win at the CFP level.

They need to put the threat of him running back on the menu. Doesn't need to do it much. 2-3 times more a game but he needs to see blitz and have situations where its one read or go.

Can you imagine being Kerry and calling a couple of the DBs he’s recruiting after that shit show...

Yeah, the message is we need you to get back to where we were in 2019. Good news is the 2021 DB class is good and we'll see about our frosh DB, which might be soon if the play in our secondary continues. Today was a disaster but given how little actual games we've played, I am still holding out hope for improvement. In my eyes, the secondary is the only unit holding this team back from winning a title.

I liked this. Unliked it and the liked it again.

As you said there is no excuse to not executing better and that's been the story for basically 2.5 games in a row.

JF did some really dumb shit out there today. All 3 of his INTs it was like "wtf are you doing" and that's concerning. That was the first game they've ever done that before though which should earn a little bit of an excuse.

The defense though is a surreal trend which is to be honest not ending anytime soon.

Coombs: We are thin at the DB position and really need players with your outstanding ability. I have thoroughly reviewed your game films and I believe that you have a real chance to start for us on day 1; however, it will be up to you to earn it.

Recruit: Where do I sign coach?

Wade has played a ton... Banks has played a ton.... Proctor has played a ton...

Inexperience is not the issue.

We don’t have a 230 lb meat eating monster at QB we have a 215 vegan twirling leaping QB.
