Impending Assistant Coach Vacancies

People get too hung up on Patricia failing as a HC, he was a pretty good defensive coordinator in the NFL
Schematically, is he anything similar to Knowles? I truly know nothing about him other than he's a "name." Belichick's DC's (and coordinators in general outside of McDaniels) seemed to be pretty nebulous post Weis/Crennel in that they seemed to share duties with other assistants and mostly just execute BB's systems.

Whatever one's thoughts on the Patricia hire, seem to recollect that Kevin Wilson was fired by Indiana for being 'abusive' to his players. Wilson was subsequently hired by Ryan Day to be tOSU's offensive coordinator. I'm guessing that Wilson was 'rehabilitated' by Day, and after a few years (a cooling off period?), went on to be a HC once again. Patricia might be the 'older, more stable' DC that Day needs, as Day is an offensive guy. With LJsr, and the two DB coaches, there's a wealth of experience, and pretty certain they won't let their players get abused. James L is young, but given his background, doubt he'll let his LBs face a verbal thrashing from Patricia either. Plus, these coaches have plenty of 'good will' capital built up with Day (and Buckeyeland), versus Patricia. Needless to say, will be interesting to watch from the sidelines to see how it unfolds. My thoughts are that not particularly crazy to see the D that Knowles put together and implemented get torn apart. Simply put, it worked! But systems are strongly dependent on the personnel aboard to run it. So we'll see. Go Bucks!

Are we full? as far as coaching spots?

What the fuck does that even mean anymore? Or really, ever? There are no more rulzzzzzzzz.

I think that under current rules, you can have as many coaches as you want, but only a set number can recruit off campus. I could be wrong, and please correct me if I am, but I think that the named / numbered coaches working with players on the field has largely been done away with.

I’ve often thought that if Day, or any tOSU coach for that matter, were to give BP a serious read, they would get some very good self-scouting material.

Like you said, stay out of the game threads…

Yep we can have a special teams coach that doesn't recruit a coach for centers a coach for guards a coach for tackles o and d etc etc if we want to spend the money at this point
