Game Thread Illinois at tOSU - Nov 3rd, 3:30 pm ESPN

I'm pumped for the game this weekend. I have been to every Illinois game (home and away) since 2001 with a couple exceptions. In 2009 my son was born on 9/4. I know, don't have a kid during football season. I really blew it there. Then in 2010 I was tailgating in the RV lot and came down with the swine flu. I didn't make it into the game which is probably a good thing since it was a monsoon. This will be my first visit to the shoe since the Juice Williams game in 2007. I need to erase that memmory on Saturday.

Flying in for this one too...hope it doesn't rain!

Not supposed to rain the last time I checked. It has rained during my drive up from Virginia for every game this season. We had some wet beginnings to tailgating as well but the weather during the games has held.

"You are what your record says you are." - Bill Parcells, Former NFL Coach and Superbowl Winner

Ohio State's record this season is playing up to or down to their level of competition, and winning a fairly close one. I really would like to see the Bucks blow Illinois out of the stadium; however, I honestly expect the same kind of game, i.e. Ohio State wins but by much less than the point spread.

I think tOSU wins but has another slow start on offense. Imo it's worth it to keep working on the passing game. We are a statistically bad passing offense and Illinoise is a statistically bad pass defense, so something has to give. I think the passing stats will improve over these last three games and they really need to.

I think we need to work on the passing game, and this game is a great opportunity for it. However, I'd like to maybe seem them run Braxton early and get him and the offense in a groove...then start throwing the ball. I think at this point in his career, he needs to get running and get hit a few times to settle down and, as they like to say, let the game come to him.

You know Illinois is going to stack the line and try to pressure and contain Miller and force him to throw, and that's exactly what I'd like to see us do on the very first play from scrimmage--throw it deep to get the safeties to back off.

this in a nutshell. except it seems like Miller doesn't settle down in the passing game until he gets that trademark 30+ yard run.
so... maybe run QB counter trey on the first play, since it always works, then throw it deep on the second. :)

We tried that against Cal (?), but couldn't get the frontside blocking and Braxton threw it off his back foot. I'm all for going back to the well...
