A few things:
-To the Illini dancing on the logo, take this opportunity and fuck off. But it shouldn't be surprising, since they stuck the flag in the Spartan logo when they had won what...one Big Ten game in like 3 years? I don't buy the whole "They were just excited" crap. If they want to dance, do it anywhere else, ANYWHERE else, on the field, in the endzone, on the sideline with their fans...anywhere. The selection of the midfield logo is a targeted statement, and should be met with the judgement of classless horeshit that it is.
-No offense to anyone here, but anyone who actually mentions this loss in the same breath with 1998 MSU is either drunk, wasn't a Buckeye fan then or didn't see that game, has totally blocked that out (can't blame you), or has no clue what they're talking about. We had experienced players and NFL calibur players at nearly every position, MSU didn't even make a bowl that year, and we had a 24-9 lead in the 3rd quarter before they started calling plays like they were terrified they were going to lose, and then called a D-VI calibur HS gameplan the rest of the way on both sides of the ball. So, OK, poor coaching decisions, yes, there were a few in each game. But in terms of our team, the opponent, the level of competition, the choke job, the quality of play, and virtually everything else, it isn't even in the same zip code. The OSU team in 1998 was arguably the best college team in the 1990s, right with 1993 Florida State, 1994 Penn State and 1995 Nebraska. This isn't even our best team in the last 5 years.
-The UM game is now the season. Win, and we hit BCS paydirt for the 5th time in Tressel's 7 years. Lose, and it's the Capital One Bowl, a 2 game losing streak, and a feeling like Michigan had at the end of last year. We don't want that by any stretch.
-I am just as pissed at this loss as many of you, but for those who are "threatening" to leave after a single loss to an 8-3 team, please leave now, Cryami could use a few more fans until they lose a game next year. We don't want you here. Ever.
-I am already gearing up to write my part of the preview for this week. This loss sucks, but if someone had told me I would be writing a preview for a 10-1 team at the beginning of the year, I probably would have thought you were nuts. So hopefully everyone will gain some perspective as the week wears on.
-And speaking of perspective, people want perspective? Jake Locker was just carted off immobilized in an ambulance after a helmet-to-helmet hit tonight against Oregon State. He was a warrior against us, and I am hoping it was just precautionary. He has his whole future flashing before his eyes right now. We are fans of a team that has lost one game in 11 tries. Some of you need to grow the fuck up.
