Game Thread Illinois 28, Ohio State 21 (final)

Probably #6, behind LSU, Oregon, Oklahoma, Kansas, and West Virginia, although maybe even Mizzou sneaks past Ohio State.

The Bucks have almost no chance to get back into the top two, especially because Oregon and West Virginia don't have conference championship games to worry about.

We could see an Oregon-WVU BCS title game.... :sick1:

I have to think we drop behind Mizzou, since they beat Illinois. Maybe we stay above Arizona State, but everyone has been waiting for a chance to show the Big Ten isn't any good, and they'll vote like it. As people have said though, it doesn't matter if we aren't 1 or 2 anyway.

As for the Oregon-WVU title game, it would be ugly, but to me it's better than USC, LSU, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Miami, or Florida State being there that we've had to stomach so many times in the last 20 years.

I agree with everyone's opinions on the polls. I, like everyone else, have been trying to think positive and put this season in perspective..but it's just not easy right now. I truly believed we were going to end up winning the title this year when no one expected it. It's very hard to take when that cold water is smashed in your face. We have got to beat UM, I can't imagine my emotions next week if we don't.

Go Bucks

Just got back from the game. Wore the same goddam jacket I wore to the last loss to scUM.. I'm burning that POS.

We got beat every way imaginable. Trenches, Coaching, and Most of all Turnovers. Kudos to juice for a flawless game and for the line avoiding holding calls.

I still cheer for the bucks and feel that nobody has a better top to bottom program.

We could just use some stiffer competition early on. Would we be in the NC if this game happened in September??

Go Bucks,, Beat scUM!! Come on Pasadena.

Good game to Illinois. And to those who keep complaining about the fumble, drop it already, we didn't stop them in the red zone after that. We didn't stop the other 3 TD drives. It's not the fumble's fault.
Disagree... You don't forget wiping 7 points off the board... and possession... take it down the field and you're up 14... kinda different than being tied... HUGE...

So that first touchdown alone caused our defense to not show up at all for the rest of the game? Take it down the field? We had at least 4 drives in the first half alone to take it down the field and score.

Thought you could do that only in the NFL.

Correct, now that all of college football has review I believe that the red flag is gone. The only thing a coach can do is to call a timeout to give time for review.

In the instance of this call I believe the ref completely blew the call and called the player down by contact which negates any chance of a review on the play.

Sucks, but it's the reality of the situation.

:oh:

Knowing that we may lose some key defensive players (besides Grant, the senior) to the draft at the end of this year, perhaps this loss, coupled with the debacle in January, will keep most of our D intact for next year. Having Freeman, Jenkins, Chekwa, Gholston, Worthington, Wilson, and, oh... Laurinaitis all coming back could easily jettison us into the top five next year.

Nope.. The NCAA committee decided to allow each team one challenge during the course of the game. The head coach may request a review by signaling for a timeout. If the challenge overturns the call on the field, the coach retains the right to challenge later in the game and is not charged a timeout. If the call on the field is not reversed in the challenge, the team is charged a timeout and the coach does not have the ability to challenge again in the game.
