Not a bad suggesstion....I'd also wonder about Bob Stoops' interset in tOSU....

All of this is pretty irrelevant, as many things are sure to change in 10-15 years when JT actually retires. By then, Dantonio will have grown roots somewhere, Stoops will either be in the NFL, or a legend at OU, and I'd imagine Kelly will have moved on to something permanent as well.

I will say, tOSU lucked out a bit that UM missed the boat on Kelly. I really think he would have revived the rivalry, and given tOSU fits in recruiting. Rodriguez really cannot compete across the board against tOSU in recruiting...

Bring him up again in ten years. I'm leery of inexperienced coaches in the fishbowl of a big time college program. He can make bonehead rookie mistakes at Northwestern like taking points off the board in the loss to Duke last year and live to coach another day. He'd be crucified for that here.

That certainly is worth repeating, simply for those like me who hadn't heard that before (read: must live under a rock)

In that particular scenario, the likelihood that Urban comes to Columbus is nill, since JT won't be the coach of the Browns in this lifetime. Since JT has his say on when he is no longer OSU's coach, I plan on my kids seeing him coach one day, and I'm currently single. However, if Urban really is enamored with JT's job, it would pay huge dividends to hire him when the time comes, no question about it.

Dantonio is intriguing, and as far as Meyer goes I worked with Urban's high school secondary coach for nine years. They have remained very close friends and he has gone to visit Meyer every year since Utah. Meyer has had an out clause in every contract he has ever had for the head coaching job at tOSU. My friend has told me numerous times that Meyer has a great life in Gainesville but that he would be out the door faster than Rich Rod on his way to a half off shredder sale at OfficeMax.

Stoops has just never struck me as having tOSU as a dream job, Meyer certainly has. I am just glad that this is a question we only have to worry about answering in the hypothetical world.

1. He's an Ohioan and got his coaching start serving a two-year stint as a GA under Earle.
2. Ohio State could match any school in the country for salary.
3. If Urban wants to win National Titles, the path to the title game under the current system would normally favor OSU over Florida.
4. He'd have his pick of high school talent out of the Great Lakes states and still be able to cherry pick Florida and other locations in the South. No more competing with FSU, Miami, USF, etc.

Urban has never kept his interest in the Ohio State job a secret.

Well, I'm talking in terms of age. JT has a good 10-15 years ahead of him. Urban Meyer, Bob Stoops, Brian Kelly...they will all be after-thoughts by the time JT hangs it up....
