Geiger hired JT and Matta. He's not here anymore.
Yup. I have no problems with Smith..but it was clear Geiger *cherished* OSU and viewed it as his life's work and legacy.

I think Smith is a bigger advocate and care taker for OSU than many give him credit for, but at the same time I always get the feeling that this is a stepping stone for a postion within the NCAA. That may be totally false on my part..but it prompts me to think Smith, if in a position to hire a new coach, would go for a BIG name regardless of any Ohio or OSU ties.

I think Gene is more of a (self) promoter and likes to go high profile where as Geiger appeared to have different motivators, even if they are both seeking the same end wrt to OSU.

From what I've seen so far Gene Smith will turn the coaching search into an American Idol like reality show, complete with audience vote determining winner, if someone offers enough money to sponsor it.

I'm sure he could find a tattoo parlor to take out advertising.

I'm going to be very surprised if things get to the point that these wild accusations are proven and Tressel is fired. That said, if things do reach that point, then there is no way that Gene Smith can remain in his position. Compliance is his baby. It is his responsibility to make sure that the coaches reporting to him play by the rules.

I just don't think that this will come to that!

All of that is true...but when I was there I remember Gee being publicly effusive with praise for Cooper, sometimes even overly so.

Did he say something like "I just hope that Coach Cooper doesn't fire me."? :tongue2:

It's funny...Bill Belichick is caught stealing signals, taping walkthroughs and cheating to win football games. No one among the Patriots front office self reported this to the NFL. Since this information was uncovered the Patriots have won a grand total of zero Super Bowls. Listen to the media and they will still have you believe he's the biggest genius in the history of the NFL and seemingly the spygate thing is merely a blip on the radar. Fine paid, story over and the dipshit freely roams the sidelines in his cut off hoodies.

Even if Tress' sole purpose in not reporting the information about his players selling their own shit was to preserve his chances at another National Championship...I don't buy the witch hunt. From the info we have he should have been more forthcoming. Tress fucked up and is paying the price, the price is just way too steep, in Chewy's humble opinion.

Chewy is all in like a late night hook up with a young Salma Hayek.

Chewy would make a good Auburn or Bama fan.

As Bill says, they have a different board for that commentary.
