BUCKYLE;1912224; said:Also...if I'm understanding correctly...the players that go to schools such as tOSU that go to BCS bowls every year can recieve swag bags filled with five grand worth of [Mark May]...no problem there...but don't dare try to trade that Xbox360 for some tatts. It would be laughable if it weren't so horribly hypocrytical. Sanctioned payoffs to BCS athletes is ok. A gift certificate allowing the players to take a girl out or buy some new kicks...CRIMINAL!!11!! I mean, come the [censored] on.

Sure. If I only posted when the medicine kicked in....BUCKYLE;1912224; said:I don't know how or when my comments were saying Tress or the players did nothing wrong or don't deserve punishment. That wasn't my intent. They all [censored]ed up. They get what they get.
That being said, just because JT lied, doesn't make the NCAA credible or right. As grad said, some if not most wouldn't even be in college if not for their athletic gifts, and the hours they put into developing their gifts. The NCAA has no issue profitting like a [censored] from those gifts, while simultaneously telling the players that an education is enough reward. If that's the case, start handing out credit hours to the people that would have otherwise recieved cash.

Not. At. All. It wasn't a solution so much as my personal feelings. I don't want to get rid of JT because of a mistake, no matter how stupid, because of a few players breaking the rules of a corrupt organization. If that's naive, and I believe it is, then so be it. Baby and bathwater and so on and so forth.Gatorubet;1912083; said:Your solution is that we all can cheat as much as we want 'cause everyone does it? "Roll Tide" to you, Sir.
I understand why the rule is in place. Again, I know they broke the rule. I get it. I do. But...they didn't get 100K from anyone. In THIS instance, they got what realistically would be fair market value. They didn't put the shit on ebay and try to cash in. They tried to get some quick cash. Wrong, yes. Understandable, yes.Lots of posters have explained why if they are allowed to sell sports related [Mark May], there is no way to reign in boosters and supporters paying outrageous amounts for signed stuff. Tebow could sell his autographed 2006 BCS Champ jersey to some Citrus millionaire for a hundred K...who's to say what the value is when a freaking baseball is worth six figures? The ONLY way to stop that from happening is to say you can't do that while you are in school. Sell the [Mark May] for what you can get as soon as you are a pro, and have your agent set up autograph sessions.
I don't really disagree man. A great topic for another thread. But Kyle, this is the "not all in" thread. I don't have a problem talking about this in the Wappa Goo thread ....but why not sell that to the "stand with" guys and gals? We're not [censored]ing over there, in the Tress was battling drug dealers club, so why the need to camp out here telling us that Tress' actions were okey-dokey over here?
You're compension toward Gator empathy is weak.BUCKYLE;1912233; said:Not. At. All. It wasn't a solution ...
(blah blah lots of angst-ridden shit blah)

4. No matter how much people agree with you, (angst-ridden shit). You're smart, you're pretty cool, but you're not a [censored]ing Buckeye. So while your opinion is valued by many, including me on other topics, you don't suffer the same as I. Don't [censored]in' pretend like you do for the sake of your argument. It's disengenuous and comes off as fake as [censored].
See - what you thought was me defending the lying and misrepresenting of oversigning by coaches in the SEC.....was instead me explaining the nuances and intricacies of a Sister Conference to the uninitiated.OSU_D/;1912228; said:But anytime I see a fan of a SEC team , especially a fan who (whether you'll admit it or not) defended to great measure the lying and misrepresenting of oversigning by coaches in the SEC, it's like I hear Pavlov's bell.

YepBUCKYLE;1912233; said:1. I wasn't really trying to convince anyone. Just kinda thinkin' out loud.
That wasn't my intent at all Kyle. Just that there was a main thread - the yahoos and tattoos one for the general discussion, the "stands with tress" one for those with a like mind, and this one for the realists/heretics. It just seemed like you were going off on a direction - and were quickly joined - in posts that were not really the flavor of this one. Seems like there was less conflict when the "sides" did not try to convince the other in the two other threads, that's all. Had I wanted that I would have posted a subtle "Some Mod move this [censored]ing post" or suchlike.BUCKYLE;1912233; said:2. If a mod wants to move my posts, so be it.
Meh. It was a suggestion. And since you've taken it upon yourself to tell me when and how much to post in the recent past, I guess we'll both just take 'em as the helpful suggestions they are, eh?BUCKYLE;1912233; said:3. Don't tell me what [censored]ing thread I should be posting in.
Do I care about what happens here as much as something in God's Country? Uh-uh. Now, Spurrier leaving was a dark day. I feel bad about what is going on, but I'm not invested like THAT crisis. That was some [Mark May]. Do I care what happens to tOSU football program? Yeah, Kyle, I do - more than about 95% of the other programs, which I do not give a [censored] about (or who I do give a [censored] about and all of that is channeling bad karma their way). This includes both non-conference and SEC rivals. To be frank, I care more because of how people here take it than me. I'm not invested in Tress so much. But I like a whole lot of people here. I don't know why you think I am trying to "pass" as a - what did you say - a guy who "suffers" like you? I'll sign the affidavit that you suffer more. I'll back date it if you [censored]ing want. If you'd listened to some of the stuff in this thread last month, you might not be suffering as much today.BUCKYLE;1912233; said:4. No, I'm not entirely serious. I'd just rather talk about anything other than the mess the football program is in right now. I'm almost as disgusted by what happened as I am that I spent 7 years living in Tallahassee.
