I don't know how or when my comments were saying Tress or the players did nothing wrong or don't deserve punishment. That wasn't my intent. They all [censored]ed up. They get what they get.

That being said, just because JT lied, doesn't make the NCAA credible or right. As grad said, some if not most wouldn't even be in college if not for their athletic gifts, and the hours they put into developing their gifts. The NCAA has no issue profitting like a [censored] from those gifts, while simultaneously telling the players that an education is enough reward. If that's the case, start handing out credit hours to the people that would have otherwise recieved cash.

Not. At. All. It wasn't a solution so much as my personal feelings. I don't want to get rid of JT because of a mistake, no matter how stupid, because of a few players breaking the rules of a corrupt organization. If that's naive, and I believe it is, then so be it. Baby and bathwater and so on and so forth.

Lots of posters have explained why if they are allowed to sell sports related [Mark May], there is no way to reign in boosters and supporters paying outrageous amounts for signed stuff. Tebow could sell his autographed 2006 BCS Champ jersey to some Citrus millionaire for a hundred K...who's to say what the value is when a freaking baseball is worth six figures? The ONLY way to stop that from happening is to say you can't do that while you are in school. Sell the [Mark May] for what you can get as soon as you are a pro, and have your agent set up autograph sessions.

I understand why the rule is in place. Again, I know they broke the rule. I get it. I do. But...they didn't get 100K from anyone. In THIS instance, they got what realistically would be fair market value. They didn't put the shit on ebay and try to cash in. They tried to get some quick cash. Wrong, yes. Understandable, yes.

Just that there was a main thread - the yahoos and tattoos one for the general discussion, the "stands with tress" one for those with a like mind, and this one for the realists/heretics. It just seemed like you were going off on a direction - and were quickly joined - in posts that were not really the flavor of this one. Seems like there was less conflict when the "sides" did not try to convince the other in the two other threads, that's all. You can claim to be invested, but unless it's an issue with the Gators, you're not...not really..no matter how you feel for Buckeye fans...and I believe you do. No matter how much we disagree, I'm still on the "same side" with ORD, Jax, and the others that posted in this thread from day one. No matter how much you agree with them, you aren't on OUR side.
