I decided a long time ago that I wasn't going to be turning wrenches/common laborer my whole life.
got my first indoor/white collar job in '02ish. and for the most part have been office personnel ever since.

been with current company about 3-1/2 years. couple promotions along the way, all good.

well due to my experience/knowledge in what we do, I'm the only office guy who is qualified to also work in the field and sign off on pressure tests. so thanks to our current shortage of personnel, I have been in the field the last two days and going back again tomorrow.

100+ heat index every day. driving 3 hours each way, working 13 hours on site, and having a horrific run of luck so far.

I'm getting too old to do this shit every day.

Spent all of yesterday dealing with IT to figure out our issue is with the software vendor, so now my coworker and I are bored out of our minds hoping the vendor has support people in on Sundays that are actually addressing the issue. At least getting nothing done this weekend isn't our fault.
