How does work make you feel today?

tired.

we've had a couple issue with personnel on jobs out of state. that makes my life mor difficult tryin to manage and juggle people form 14 hours away.

especially when managing some of these guys ain't easy even if you in the same town as them.

Good/great medical insurance is jugular

you may be one family medical emergency away from near bankruptcy... and that's WITH insurance

In most cases, you cannot get coverage anywhere close to major firms coverage
and forget about dental and vision

?????

unless the Cavs finally called you into their front office

I wish, but I lost my 2015-2035 NBA stats almanac and my Jedi Force powers never developed so I would be useless. Great new opportunity to grow my skills. I feel I've maxed out what I can do here and the wife likes that it will give us the chance to move closer to her family on the other side of town.

Back right after the first of the year, I asked the new Director of my department if I could move into the Consulting group and out of Account Management. I had already talked to the head of Consulting about it and he was excited about the possibility. I have had a couple of conversations with my Director since and he is onboard with it, but wants to do some sort of transition. He told me that they had a lot invested in me (not sure what that means, since I bring the work in for them) and they didn't want to me to leave. I assured him I was great with the company and that I was much more passionate about Consulting than Account Management. I told him as long as things were progressing in that direction I would be fine. Well, nothing seems to be progressing at all. I am starting to consider looking again, but I am not really excited about the prospect of job hunting again. I am also not interested in being in an Account Management role anymore, which is likely the most available roles out there for me at this time....:sad2:

I know my coworker means well and is just trying to make sure I'm good to handle everything solo (at least until/if they post for her replacement) when she moves to another group in our department after next week, but man, ease up a bit! I know I need to put the itinerary sheet on top of the guest letters and clip them together, but how about you give me a second to finish up what I'm doing with this stack of papers and do things in an order that makes sense to me before sounding like my mother.

Most of the time she's great, but she seems intent on making me into a clone of herself now that she's leaving the role and it is driving me crazy.

Well, that ended up being a wonderful day.

Coworker was fine after this morning, mainly because the ship that was in port today was a complete cluster fuck, and another ship wanted us to recount one of their scores (I will never be on an election committee after today, screw this recount thing). Why is it so hard for them to get their shit together and trust our reporting?

Started this warehouse job in October of 2014 as seasonal help. Hired on full time with bennies about a year ago. Moved to Shipping this past Nov and was loving it. Got to load trailers pretty much all night every night. It's not construction but it's the next best, climate controlled thing. Not to sound like a dick but I was fucking good at my job. Too good apparently. They promoted me to lead last week. In a different department. So I went from having a physical job where I could sweat as well as do some desk work, to a job where I have to pretty much sit at a computer all god damned day.

Probably gonna be putting in some apps this month. Fml

exhausted.

we are one of the few oil related companies out there that are not just sustaining, but booming right now.

we're about to go on a serious hiring spree and pray that we get some quality guys this go round.

a company that up until about a year ago was far and away our biggest customer is also starting to really get after it again. When they rolling, we rolling.

only problem (a really good problem) is that we were already pushing the limits of our personnel before this happened.

and for the first time in company history, we have multiple locations operating beyond max capacity at the same time.

not going to complain though. this industry is bottoming out everywhere else right now. I now people who have been with companies 20+ years that are going to be unemployed in the next month due to places closing their doors.

Ummm, yeah, see, we're putting the itinerary sheet on top of ALL the guest letters and clipping them together. Did you SEE the memo about this? If you could just make sure that you do that from now on, that would be great, and uh, I'll make sure you get another copy of that memo. Okaaay?

Not a place where you can discuss what you'd like to do? Maybe I'm reading into too much, but if they like what you do and how you do it well enough to promote you, then might they consider listening that you're looking for more manual than desk work?
